Breathalysers at McDonalds

If you have something so weird, strange or off-topic to post and think it doesn't belong in any other forum; you're probably right. Please put all your gormless, half-baked, inane, glaikit ideas in here. This might also be a place where we throw threads that appear elsewhere that don't belong ANYWHERE end up, instead of having to flush them. FORUM RULES STILL APPLY.

Breathalysers at McDonalds

Post by Anchor Moy »

Cambridge UK: Brilliant plan to breathalyse people who are not even driving.
Too drunk to have a burger. :plus1:
What next?

McDonald’s customers in Cambridge could be breathalysed before they are allowed in as part of a new scheme to stop alcohol-fuelled crime in the city.

Security staff at the restaurant in Rose Crescent are being given testing kits that will detect whether anyone is over twice the drink-drive limit.

It would be more useful to do a BMI, diabetes, & cholesterol test.

Kind of like a bar doing a breathalyzer test when you leave...and banning you if you're drunk.

They actually had breathalyzer vending machines in bars back in the 90s. The unintended effect was that instead of keeping people from driving, kids competed to blow the highest BAC. They mostly disappeared fairly quickly.

Last time I was in Poland, every bar had a breathalyzer machine, you were expected to test yourself if you were driving... we weren't driving but were quite keen to see how much vodka and beer it would take to make every light on the machine light up. Lots was the answer. Drinking and maths don't mix.
