Black English teachers in Cambodia,Yes or No
Re: Black English teachers in Cambodia,Yes or No
Firstly I am not a teacher, nor am I in the so called teaching circles, don't associate with any teachers here no more, the last one I did know, went off the rails, to the point of being drunk and drug using daily. I refused to serve him alcohol in my bar. I did serve him food and even helped with a little small cash for his living expenses. Soon after, the once respectable young qualified teacher moved on without any word.cptrelentless wrote: ↑Wed Jul 04, 2018 11:27 am My daughter's teacher is from Zim. I don't think being black is contagious.
Anyway back on subject. cptrelentless is your daughter at school in Cambodia? Is there any black teachers here?
Before on the forum I had once talked about the difficulties for my partner, whom is a Khmer dark skinned lady. I couldn't start to imagine how it would, or not be for a black teacher. Then being a qualified foreigner may make the difference.
Also, not inclusive to the teacher on subject, but! What always puzzles me how the "so called racist" can have preferences. Thinking about it the OP asked - any thoughts on this? Years ago back in my home country, the National Front members would eat in the local curry shop. Being lovers of the delights of Indian food, but also had a deep dislike to the person who cooked it for them.

Any thoughts on this ?
Personally I would never let my white children learn English from a negro..
What about your non white children? Would a "negro" be good enough for them?
Say Wole Soyinka, Derek Walcott or Toni Morrison, all nobel laureates in literature (in the English language).

The OP users name is Jimmy Crow, could he be a descendant or a fan from Jim Crow?
That explains a lot. See: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jim_Crow_laws

I rather put my son with a nigerian teacher then a low life white one for sure. I'll bet good money that the few Nigerians teachers who stay in pp, are more effective then 60 % of those so called " teachers " that u can see bumming on riverside. And tbh i more think about Mandarin for 2nd language for him rather then english.

Agreed; as a black teacher gets his job merit of his credentials; not his skin color (and I am NOT saying ALL white teachers got their jobs like that).Pragmatist wrote: ↑Wed Jul 04, 2018 5:18 pm I rather put my son with a nigerian teacher then a low life white one for sure.
