Are we all Racists?

If you have something so weird, strange or off-topic to post and think it doesn't belong in any other forum; you're probably right. Please put all your gormless, half-baked, inane, glaikit ideas in here. This might also be a place where we throw threads that appear elsewhere that don't belong ANYWHERE end up, instead of having to flush them. FORUM RULES STILL APPLY.

Are we all Racists?

Post by RickyBobby »

No one wants to be called a Racist. That accusation can end every argument.

But, what is it really, this being racist; and are all of us a bit racist?

Can racism be measured on a sliding scale? Five Percent Racist, 33% racist, 85% Racist.

I admit, I was raised with some racial undertones. Enough that I had to confront some of those values and beliefs.

But, I guess I am still a bit racist if I am being honest.

Is observing the generalities of a diaspora or group actually racist or just that; observation?

So, lets here and now define it. What is Racism? Is it all or nothing, like being pregnant?

What is it exactly, and is it ever OK to be a little bit racist?

Is it confined only to people of a certain color or country, or does it include religions too, like if you don't like Islam, are you a racist? What about redheads? Or people with small diks, or gays or old people? Is dissing them also racism? Is it so broad to refer to intolerance of any minority group?

Everyone is racist, whether intentionally or unintentionally. I was watching an Asian guy talking about his experience with an AI (artificial intelligence) app that was still in development. It's supposed to scan your face then look though a huge archive of paintings to see who you most look like from the art world. Because he was Asian, it found an 11th century painting of an old Chinese woman. He was a young man in his early 20's.

The issue wasn't that the AI was poorly implemented, it was that the developers didn't give a second thought to the fact that non white people would want to use it and reference themselves against non western works of art which almost exclusively only feature white people.

It wasn't a deliberate act of racism. It was just an oversight on the part of the developers, but it highlights how most of us are racist without even thinking about it.
The difference between animals and humans is that animals would never allow the dumb ones to lead the pack.

And what if you maybe don't inherently dislike a race but their government system and what it stands for, what it does to their people and the influence they are trying to project around the world really sucks. Is that racism?

I am not racist, but I dont like criminals. Amongst certain racial groups there are high rates of crime. So I become wary of people from those racial groups. Which makes me racist.

The definition of racism has changed in my lifetime when I was a young boy it meant feeling superior over another group because of your race.
Now racism seems to be so much more.
It's got me f*****.

Its true, and that's why I would like to flesh out the definition today.
