Once the suspect was taken into custody by the gendarmes, he admitted that he had killed his wife by stabbing her to death. The murder was triggered off by the man's anger toward his wife, who was always out gambling and drinking with other men, and she rarely came home except to ask him for money.

The suspect, Oeun Sin, 44, a farmer living in the commune, made a full confession that he killed his wife with a sharp knife, because he was jealous and angry that she was out drinking as usual, and he had no money for food to feed the family, only debts. He said that his wife was often went out drinking with men, she rarely came home to look after the children and her husband, but she had borrowed thousands of dollars and did not bother to pay them back, telling the creditors that he, her husband, would pay for her gambling debts. This was the last straw for the husband, who saw red.

That night, the husband admitted that he lost his mind, and after stabbing his wife in a fit of anger, he ran home with the knife, which he threw down next to a water urn outside his house, and then he ran away to hide in a mango orchard about 500 meters from the house, telling his daughter not to tell anyone that he was there.
However, on the night of July 24, 2023, when he was hungry, thirsty and tired, the fugitive walked out of the mango plantation into the village, where he gave himself up and was arrested by the military police.
