Agree. The OP raises two subjects ; one is the moral point of view of stealing from children and the defenseless, and two is the question of whether children should be decked out in expensive jewellery which makes them a target for thieves.

The second question has much to do with Cambodian culture. I ask my Khmer nephew why he puts a gold bracelet on his one year old baby. He thinks he needs to do this because everyone else does it. He doesn't even have much money, but putting this stuff on his kids gives him credence with society.
I try not to impose my views on him, but we discuss our cultural differences and I think we both gain from that. ie. There does not have to be a winner and a loser, or a right vs wrong.

:dm: However, IMO, small children shouldn't be wearing expensive stuff (especially gold) for whatever reason and it's not fair to them.

I would only get upset about all this if the woman had stole the kids ice-cream.
Cambodia,,,, Don't fall in love with her.
Like the spoilt child she is, she will not be happy till she destroys herself from within and breaks your heart.

Totally irrelevant, the thief is completely in the wrong, whoever she stole from. The fact that she robbed a 5 year old defenceless child is just despicable

I'm not saying the thief was somehow in the right, I was wondering what the hell a 5 year old is doing with a gold chain in the first place. Seems stupid beyond reason if you ask me.

Anyway, was just talking to my wife however and she told me a lot of rural people will buy gold and "bling" their kids out to show off their wealth and how much they "care" and are good parents. Still sound stupid after hearing her explanation.
