my bus took fucking 10 hours coming back, bus took a wrong turn i think due to a road closure/accident, by the time we got to PP hit all the traffic was a nightmare bus left at 9am arrived in PP 7pm

In general, Vietnam is not a great place for western tourists. Vietnamese are hard-working people. They understand sacrifice and diligence. They don't really understand fun, relaxation and indulging in pleasure.

Their tourism slogan used to be "The Hidden Charm", which they recently changed to "Timeless Charm". I think the previous one was quite accurate. There are some good things to be found in the country, but they're not very obvious or accessible to the casual visitor.

Having lived there on and off for 21 years, I can assure you that you are wrong.

Firstly on arrival at bus station in Saigon, we were supposed to get a ride to hotel which was in ticket price. Some short arsed woman took our ticket and then charged us 200,000 Dong for taxi, entered taxi and meter turned on. At destination meter read 107,000 Dong, which we did not have to pay as payed to lady. So there is a scam going on !!!
Hotel we stayed in was good as was area.
Went to some park and left there to go to local market on a Motodup, got off and handed him 100,000 of which he was to give us change. But took off at a great rate of knots.
Then went to " Little Russia " Nha Trang, yes everything for Russian touists, bill boards, menus, language etc. The hotel I booked on line had such good reviews (5) but on arriving there it was a completely different experience, no toiletries, TV not working WiFi router broken and was like a prison. Our conclusion was that this is a short time hotel !!! Beach was nice but after the first 2 days not. So got bored and went to Da Lat, cold, language problem, but otherwise nice for a visit.
So, really, on a budget it was a lot more expensive than here in K.O.W.
As for the food, enjoyed Pho in the mornings, but otherwise we were not impressed.
