The latest such claim comes from Qantas, which this week announced the upcoming launch, in March 2018, of nonstop flights between Perth, Australia, and London. The 14,498-kilometer flight will be the world's longest, at 17 hours, and the first nonstop flight between Australia and Europe.

not sure I could do it in coach. I have done 13 before and I'm at about the end of it when I get off the plane.
I can't even imagine taking a small child on this flight.

cheers

Don't see the point in such a longhaul flight since you just have to get on another plane when you get to Perth. Unless you live there, but realistically, how many inhabitants of Perth will be flying to London ?
I think this is just a bit of promotion for Qantas.

And yeah, 17 hours nonstop on a plane is pushing the limits for me. 12 hours already seems like forever.

That's true.

Travelling from Sydney I'd rather have two equalish halves with a stopover in the middle. Not a 4 hour flight followed by a 17 hour one. Not that I have any plans to make that trip at all.

Pussies! My regular flight is 15-15.5 hours non-stop, and that doesn't even get me to SEA: Either Toronto to Hong Kong or Toronto to Taipei. It feels like it's never going to end. Then you look at your watch and it's only been 11 hours, you want to jump out of the jet. Then I upgraded to Premium Economy on the EVA flight to Taipei. That helped some.

Before, I tried to split flights up better. Either to Incheon or Narita from YYZ. Roughly meaning 12-13 hours and then 5ish to Bangkok. But . . .

17 hours? F*ck that!
