Nature is the real reason, not sex, says Pattaya police chief

Pattaya police chief has hit back at claims that Pattaya is only about sex by saying that tourists come to the resort for its natural wonders.

But he seems determined to clear out the streetwalkers nonetheless.

Apichai Kroppetch was responding to a story in the UK’s Mirror newspaper that said Pattaya was the sex capital of the world and 1 in 5 of its female population were sex workers.

And he has suggested the damage to the Pattaya image came from British businessmen who have set up in the sex trade at the resort.

Referring to the UK report he said: “It is not true,it is just lies. Pattaya is more about nature than sex.

so, there are plenty of bad guys: every year more than one million visitors a year pass through the Thai resort known as the world's sex capital.

44 foreign deaths last year (2016) in Chon Buri, and I think all bar one or two were in Pattaya. There were 86 in Phuket https://www.farang-deaths.com/archive/#content

I really liked Pattaya back in the '80's when there was just one road and all the rest was dirt. Used to go to the TQ which opened in '78, it was run by Tom, a great guy. We used to practice Arnis together, and later run with the dirt road hash. Unfortunately all my pics of this time are on 35mm film and so the pics below are "borrowed".
