Thai govt want to charge passengers of drunk drivers under new law.
Thai Government says if you travel in the car with a drunk driver you could be charged too
On Tuesday Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-Cha asked his cabinet officials to look into a new law being adopted in Thailand that would allow passengers who travel in a car with drink drivers to be charged with offences relating to drunk driving. The PM also wants to lower the speed limit in the centre of Bangkok and giver harsher penalties for anybody caught speeding.
Mr Ormsin said the Transport Ministry has already updated laws to make it easy to revoke a person’s license, as well as more severely punish those who are found to be driving without a valid license.
Another change in the law means that ALL passengers in a car must now fasten their seatbelts, Mr Ormsin added.
Also announced was the introduction of a new driving license which will include a metal strip and which is compatible with GPS. The new license will be available from the second quarter of next year, with the project expected to cost 533 million baht.

But it's still ok to overtake vehicles on both sides and weave in and out of lanes. If anyone's travelled in a minivan over there they would have experienced this driving madness!
