The barbarian is guarding the gates

Yeah, that place out 'there'. Anything not really Cambodia related should go here.

The barbarian is guarding the gates

Post by taabarang »

First I offer my sincere apologies to bolueeleh et al for yet another Trump thread. However the serious nature of his latest gaffe deserves public scrutiny. The Rump held a press conference by invitation only. Here are some of the major media that were excluded.

The New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, Politico, BuzzFeed, the BBC and the Guardian were also among those excluded from the meeting, which was held in White House press secretary Sean Spicer's office. The meeting, which is known as a gaggle, was held in lieu of the daily televised Q-and-A session in the White House briefing room.

it is not a press conference
it is an informal press meeting with no cameras so the white house can brief the press before the main event held later in the day if trump blocked orgs from that then it might be newsworthy

i think this proves his point of fake news

non story
i am on these blocked lists;
pucketrichard
hotdgr
sailorman
rozzieoz
stroppychops

Every time I try to raise my opinion of your critical thinking abilities you go and post more nonsense. I doubt that you read the link, so try this one: http://www.npr.org/2017/02/24/517112555 ... m-briefing

I know that Freedom of the Press is an unknown concept to you, but I fully expect POTUS to fathom it and the consequences of not honoring it and above all to not diddle fuck with semantics as you do. But too much about you and not enough about POTUS.

The following link demonstrates very clearly The Rump's source of anger with objective reporting and his motivation for denying certain news media from participating.

http://edition.cnn.com/2017/02/23/polit ... a-stories/

And here's another link to back up the last one, another "non story."

https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/na ... ge%2Fstory

And here's what will be the inevitable consequence of his amateurish vendetta against the press.

For all of your negative posts about sailorman you are beginning to look more and more like him, just less interesting or complicated.

A top White House official told the media to 'keep its mouth shut'. That's a threat
https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfr ... hut-threat

The White House's radical attack on the First Amendment cannot go unanswered
https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfr ... york-times

From the above link. [Note that turning the opposition into the enemy, and then criminalizing them, is also a popular Cambodian political tactic.]
The escalation has been swift but not unplanned. The opening salvo was chief strategist Steve Bannon’s labeling the press the opposition and telling it “to keep its mouth shut.” Then came Trump’s tweet defaming the press as the “enemy of the people.” And now comes this – denying some of the world’s most revered news organizations access to the White House.

These must be seen for what they are: the strong-arm tactics of an authoritarian. It is, in fact, a signature of authoritarian rulers that they turn the opposition into the enemy. The opposition is to be engaged and persuaded; the enemy is to be isolated and crushed.

The turning of the opposition into the enemy is often a prelude toward the final step of authoritarian consolidation: turning enemies into criminals. Do any of us dare to believe that Bannon, the system-destroyer, would shy away from this? And need we ask who is the real enemy of our constitutional democracy?

This is a predictable local consequence of The Rump's intolerance of dissension.
