Post by Samouth »

This is one of the first sitcom in English i watched and it remains one of my favorite. Have you all ever heard of this one English people?

បើសិនធ្វើចេះ ចេះឲ្យគេកោត បើសិនធ្វើឆោត ឆោតឲ្យគេអាណិត។

If you know a lot, know enough to make them respect you, if you are stupid, be stupid enough so they can pity you.

You can learn how to say "por favor".

Police Sergeant: “What is your name?”
Juan: “Por favor?”
Police Sergeant: “How do you spell that?”
Mr Brown: “That’s not his name!”
Police Sergeant: “Oh, giving me a fake name, are we?”
Juan: “Por favor?”
Police Sergeant: “I’ll come back to you, Mr. Por Favor, or whatever you name is!”

It amazes me how British sitcoms can be popular in strange places. I remember this show when I was a kid, now probably considered are little bit racist to be broadcast. Samouth, check out love thy neighbour....

In the former Yugoslavia I was impressed by how popular 'Allo 'Allo was, and shocked by the cult status of Only Fools and Horses- you could buy Del Boy tshirts in the market.

'Ah, every Serb is like the Deeerek Trottaaar' I was told. 'Del Boy is true Bosnian character' said another across the border.

David Jason in a donkey jacket could have prevented a genocide, especially if he was backed up by Gordon Kay as Rene repeating 'You stupeeed woman'.

Norman Wisdom was an Albanian hero to, they've got a statue of him in Tirana and everything.

Thanks for the link. I actually didn't learn much from watching all episodes of Mind Your Language. Only one reason i watched it because it is really funny. I like how they turn everything into joke. I didn't realise about racism until i read the link. :(
