1 minute walk to sky train, less than 10 to Nana plaza & very close to the free lance beer garden on Soi 7, depends on what kind of business you would like to conduct in bongcock! Banks are also just a short walk.
My place to stay is also Maxim Inn Hotel Soi 7/1.

Haha, I just happened to stay there a few weeks ago when I was in Bangkok.KickingWithRedLabel wrote:Yobbo wrote:Maxim Inn Hotel Soi 7/1 for between 1000/1200 baht per night depending on room, can negotiate a lower price for longer stays.

Cheap and no complaints.
Oh, and they have nice big safes. I hate staying in places without them these days.
Also ended up in a place called Prince Palace Hotel, which I thought was a total steal! They have about 4 buildings and I asked for a room in the better building (I think it was building C, but not sure. It's the one near the best looking pool and a sushi place at the entrance) of the 4.
$30 a night (through hotels.com using the discount code MOBA which takes off 10% if you book from their mobile app) and a very legit hotel with a couple pools.
Only downside it was not where I wanted to be (maybe Chinatown?), but with Uber it was easy and cheap to get around.

Re: Favourite Bangkok Hotels
I've been staying a couple of nights at a time in Bangkok regularly in the last 3 months on the way to football games, and I think I've found a bit of a bargain with the Smart Suites at the end of Soi 11. Small new place so its nice and clean, modern style, flat screen, comfy bed which is the main thing for me and good power shower the other essential. No restaurant or pool but 7-11 next door for drinks and snacks is convenient, and you're on Soi 11 which has such an excellent variety of bars and restaurants that you don't really need to venture further afield if you're knackered or not . Nana BTS is right outside the Soi so perfect coming in from the airport and going anywhere. Paid 840 -880 a night standard room every time, for value I think it's hard to beat for the location and standard in my opinion and I looked at a lot of options.

Wow! Thanks for all the great info and opinions. Much appreciated!
Maxim Inn is also on the list. Have seen it mentioned on several sites.
Yeah, Smart Suites was recommended to me by a friend of mine who stayed there a couple months ago, so thanks for the confirmation. It is pretty much at the top of the list now. Do you recall if the wi-fi was good or not? I may be going to hell in a bucket,
but at least I'm enjoying the ride.

Re: Favourite Bangkok Hotels
I normally either stay at Citadine suites on Soi 11 next door to Mulligans (it's great having a 24 hour bar right next to your hotel) or the Raddison on Soi 19.
I always stay in that area as I have friends who have apartments on Soi 11, so I will check out these Smart Suites next time I'm planning on heading over.
Thanks for the tip.

Sorry can't confirm on the wi-fi as I've got a good tablet package so didn't bother using it.sigmoid wrote:Wow! Thanks for all the great info and opinions. Much appreciated!

Re: Favourite Bangkok Hotels
I can recommend a comfortable, quiet hotel in walking distance to the nearby MRT Huay Kwang subway station.
Large spacious rooms with bathtub, desk, fridge, not sure about current prices, last time i stayed there about 850 THB a day.
Excellent friendly service, good cleaning service. Easy to get around, lots of place to eat, etc and Asok/Sukh intersection is only a 10 min subway ride away, in case you miss the usual distractions.
Name of the place: Galleria @ Subway
Phone: 02 276 4384
Email: [email protected]
They also rent by the month for about 10K
