Dozens killed in first four days of Duterte's drug war.

Yeah, that place out 'there'. Anything not really Cambodia related should go here.

Article written about Duterte as Mayor of Davao City, which explains something of his appeal to the Filipinos. In a country where everyone is armed to the teeth, and where crime and corruption rule, many ordinary people just want to feel safe.

Welcome to Davao, the Philippine Leader’s Town: ‘No Smoking, No Crime'.
DAVAO CITY, Philippines — Residents who are 18 or younger are not allowed on the street without an adult between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. Liquor cannot be sold after 1 a.m. Smoking is banned throughout the city, except in a few designated areas.

A party town? Maybe not, but many people who live here in Davao City, where President-elect Rodrigo Duterte has been the mayor for most of the past two decades, say that’s not the point.

They believe that Mr. Duterte, who will begin his term on June 30, has brought safety and calm to a city that is surrounded by areas where violence is rife...

Edit: Added some underlines for those who need them. This is a background article, not a breaking news article. Hope that's clear now.

The article is dated 17 June 2016. Hence the reference to 'President-elect', and 'begin his term on June 30'.

Thaksin had a war on drugs in 2003, 2,600 people murdered,
didn't change one fucking thing

Once again ceo news puts his foot in his mouth
BUT Judging by the amount of threads he is starting, (50% of my view new threads) where would ceo be with out him :stir:
In a nation run by swine, all pigs are upward-mobile and the rest of us are fucked until we can put our acts together: not necessarily to win, but mainly to keep from losing completely. HST

Great article with some very chilling photographs.....

Tenacious Photographers Expose Philippine President’s Brutal Drug War To The World
Over 2,400 people have been killed in less than three months.

Nick Robins-Early World News Reporter, The Huffington Post

Warning: This article contains graphic images of recent killings in the Philippines.

Photographer Raffy Lerma was only a few minutes into the overnight shift for the Philippine Daily Inquirer when he received word that three bodies had been found on the streets of Manila. Out he went to capture the image. Then there was a drug bust, and a few hours later an extrajudicial killing. It was his first night back on the shift, and he was shocked at the rate the calls were coming in.

Philippines President Duterte ordered mass murders, claims former militiaman

A Filipino former militiaman testified before the country’s Senate on Thursday that President Rodrigo Duterte, when he was still a city mayor, ordered him and other members of a liquidation squad to kill criminals and opponents in gangland-style assaults that left about 1,000 dead.
Edgar Matobato told the nationally televised Senate committee hearing that he heard Duterte order some of the killings. Matobato acknowledged he himself carried out about 50 of the abductions and deadly assaults, including a man who was fed to a crocodile in 2007 in southern Davao city...

Matobato said the victims in Davao allegedly ranged from petty criminals to people associated with Duterte’s political opponents, and included a wealthy businessman who was killed in central Cebu province allegedly because of a feud with Duterte’s son over a woman.

The war on drugs is just a front , the real reason is to gain maximum power in the philipines be putting fear into the people.

hmm RW has it.
he will liquidate the opposition, run the yanks out, and sell to china.
already doing it now.

this region is going to fall to china and may see hot war with the prickly viets.

got to say them and thailand are the only ones nearby who will resist china,
burma is already in hand and that highway down to chiang rai is a first class military road.

that is why they have been building bridges for 10 years here in little places.

easier to bring the tanks when wanted

we are in the prewar period now.

mark my words, and think about how to get out if korea goes up

Daughter of late British peer killed in Philippines drug war

Maria Moynihan, daughter of 3rd Lord Moynihan, was found on street with five gunshot wounds. The daughter of a late British peer has been shot dead in the Philippines in what appears to be a vigilante-style gang hit in the country’s bloody crackdown on drugs.

Maria Aurora Moynihan, 45, was left in the street in the capital Manila on 10 September, police said. Her attackers propped up a cardboard sign against her body which said: “Drug pusher to the celebrities.”

Moynihan was the daughter of the 3rd Lord Moynihan, a British peer who fled to the Philippines in the late 1960s following fraud allegations. He ran several brothels and was allegedly active in drugs trafficking until 1991, when he died of a stroke.

A dual British-Filipino citizen, Maria Moynihan was also accused of involvement in the narcotics business. She had been on bail following charges of possession of illegal drugs in 2013.

“Witnesses told us they heard a series of gunshots, then saw a vehicle leaving the area. They did not see its licence plates,” Ch Insp Tito Jay Cuden told Agence France-Presse.

He said no arrests had been made. “She’s considered a drug personality,” he added...
