I've opted to do the monthly rate at a place on Beach road for now. I figured that would be better since I don't drive a moto and am often hungry at 2 AM. The down side is I can't cook and even the cheap meals start to add up after awhile.

I walk to Golden Lions gym often and can see the appeal of the area, I'm just not sure about living there without transportation.

tbh if you go eat places like Titanic, its hardly worth cooking yourself, you can save yourself on lunch buy buying a loaf of bread and some fillings and making your own lunches, but when you can get pasta dishes from $1.50 or chicken cordon bleu for $3.50 its sometimes not worth cooking yourself, or if you head to the night market and eat khmer food there its inexpensive, get BBQ pork and rice for $1.50 :thumb:

Old thread on cheap places to eat, but a lot of them are still going. Would be good if people added updates for this year.

Making stuff at home is just better than going out sometimes when you can't be bothered. Not always cheaper, but easier. Most of all, as a basic minimum you MUST HAVE A FRIDGE in your room. Otherwise, your room sucks, sorry but yes it does.

Out of curiosity, are there any well-regarded local websites that rental properties are advertised on ?

i always cook myself i rarely go out to eat, unless i want to treat myself to the odd pie and chips and gravy at snooky bar or something, im quite happy cooking basic meals for myself, not always too fancy but i do like to experiment :thumb: (need to find a wife!)

Jamie, if I may give you a piece of advice:
When setting yourself on finding a needle in a haystack, it is unnecessary maybe even unproductive to single check every hay straw in the process :bonk:

Missing Monkey Bar/Restaurant, has some apartments for $280. a month and Mark says you get a $20. bar credit. If you check the "Get Your Fill" section there is a card with a map. Its walking distance to the Golden Lyons Circle/ beach area/Lucky Ocean Mart/Mikes Burger/Olive n' Olive etc, relatively quiet, safe, attached to a really nice hidden/quiet bar/restaurant that has killer steaks and food.

I walk by Missing Monkey all the time. It's a interesting street but I still feel like I'm better off closer to the beach since I lack moto skills - easy access to 24 hr food, plus massages and girlie bars. If I decide to settle here long-term then the residential area would be something to consider.

And yeah I do need a fridge. I'll get a new place next month with one and that should help my food expenses. Even paying $3-$4 per dish, it still adds up if I want veggies plus juice or coffee as well.
