French police have started deporting Russian football fans after violent behaviour in Marseille, including a "notorious far-right leader of an ultra fan group":
French police have started the process of deporting Russia fans following violent clashes with England supporters that marred the opening days of Euro 2016. Manuel Valls, France’s prime minister, said some “will be deported because some people cannot stay on national territory” after authorities verified the identities of 29 people suspected of being involved in last weekend’s clashes.

Alexander Shprygin, the notorious far right head of a Russian supporters’ group, said French riot police had stopped a bus carrying fans in the town of Mandelieu near Cannes, who were on their way to Lille...

Shprygin has been travelling with the official Russian FA delegation at Euro 2016 but is considered by the Fare network, which provides official observers at matches for Uefa and Fifa, to be a leading light in Russia’s network of extreme-right ultra fan groups. Piara Powar, the network’s executive director, said that the presence of Shprygin within the official party raised wider concerns about “the apparent nexus of high-level politicians, far-right leaders and extreme nationalism” in Russian football, as the 2018 World Cup, which will be hosted in the country, approaches...

Historic win for Wales.
Wales could hear the call of history. They reached the quarter-finals of the 1958 World Cup but had never been in the semi-finals of a major tournament and the challenge was to surpass those sepia-tinted images. How they answered it on a night that will surely go down as their finest on a football field.

It had looked grim for the opening 25 minutes when Belgium – star-studded Belgium, the team ranked No2 in the world – came at Wales from all angles. Radja Nainggolan’s 30-yard thunderbolt felt as though it might be the prompt for a rout.

But this Wales team write their own scripts. They have been driven this far by a ravenous appetite; they are a bunch of mates playing together and they refused to buckle...

while its the ultimate match up (on paper with them being the most successful teams in europe), i would never class a italy vs germany an ultimate match, out of 34 games 11 have been draws and germany up until last night had never beaten them in a competitive match, italian football is always classed as defensive and boring...

id prefer an england vs germany rivaly a more exciting game 30 games 13 england 12 germany with only 5 draws

although im embarrased for the england team, as i tend to be after a lot of tournaments over the past decade, although we as unlucky in the 2010 world cup, even though we got spanked 4-1 the goal that was disallowed just before half time even though it crossed the line was a big game changer as they should have gone in 2-2 at the break
and who can forget this game

that was the last half decent generation of england players, no one decent has replaced any of them, rooney had the potential but never performed in big competitions

Humiliating for the goalkeeper, thru the legs, looped over the head, it was amateurs against top of the line pros.

France vs Germany at half-time : Germany had taken over the match, but a penalty for France just before half-time means that it's all on for the second half.
