Gold Seller in Kampong Speu's Oral District Gets Shot Dead by Robbers Armed with AK-47s

Kampong Speu: A gold seller, whose house is located at Koutout Market in Oral district, Kampong Speu Province was shot dead by 3 robbers touting AK-47s at about 9:00am on April 16, 2016.

Witnesses said that there were three robbers on a motorcycle armed with two AK-47 guns and one handgun. They shot the victim in his abdomen. The victim died from the gunshot wound after being sent to the hospital.

The victim's name is Ty Chern, male, 40.

Police have started an investigation into the case, but as of now, the perpetrators are still at large.

That's a lot of weaponry for your average petty thief. Lots of these organized heists in the countryside lately.

^^ I doubt they are old KR weapons. More likely police or military looking for a KNY bonus.

Perhaps, but I highly doubt they're cops. There are definitely weapons around, you see it in the news carrot often. It's just surprising sometimes as getting your hands on anything more than an old Marakov that keeps getting stoppages is rather rare. These guys knew their target and seemed organized. There have been a string of heavily armed robberies or home break-ins lately. These aren't your usual jaos.

Also, it's not true that only HE's bodyguards get new toys. Tons of modern Chinese rifles around for both the military and gendarmerie.

^^ No source. Just a hunch based on who is most likely to have access to these types of weapons. I could be wrong.

BTW anyone knows what is the top speed of cambodian patrol boat? gonna do a miami vice style run to drop off some white powdery stuff

according to wiki, the fastest is MKII boat or something, top speed 28.5kts, (minus few kts off for years of poor maintenance), seems like most of cambodian navy boats are river boats.
