Female Expat Luna Aagren from Denmark Receives Serious Injuries in Accident near Otres Beach, Sihanoukville (GRAPHIC)

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

BKK trapper had at least one good line on the forums : "all the gear all the time"
On a scooter my helmet would be the minimum I settle for, while on my big bike you won't see me without bike boots, full face helmet and from now on armored jacket.
10k hospital fee and reduced arm mobility at least taught me that.
I've fallen off enough scooters to know that even on those bastards you need enclosed shoes, long sleeve shirt and proper pants.

no not going by that head injury

even a open face would protect the part about the eyebrows , assuming it was fitted correctly/chin strap done up tightly/correct size etc

Sin boy, you have WAY overstepped the line this time. Luna is one of the most respected, knowledgeable, giving, loved, long term expats in this town. Some people could never even hope to earn a hundredth of the respect in their entire life that she has earned in her time here in Sihanoukville.

(Is that ok GM? I'm angry, actually fukn FURIOUS, at this comment about someone he has never met and who has contributed more to this town then some could even possibly ever hope to ever contribute to anything, anywhere, ever and I REALLY, REALLY wanted to say what I really meant, but I reined myself in for the sake of the forum).

Luna, I don't know what to say except we ALL down here wish you the best.

Ok, I cleaned up his and your posts a slight bit.

To be fair, I thought his comment was NOT even directed at her at all, but just to anyone out there who doesn't wear a helmet.

Even I caught a bit of grief over it on Twitter today, but I think it's because they care about me.

Stories like these that are easily avoidable really get people emotional. I've talked about how I drink and drive without a helmet before and I think think I've ever taken so much abuse, before or since. Probably well-deserved, caring abuse.
