The Comedy Club Cambodia #33

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

Holy crapsticks, do we have an awesome line up for you to enjoy at Show Box on Friday March 25! https://www.facebook.com/events/448547515351357/
Not only have we booked the “effortlessly brilliant” Australian comic Ro Campbell as headliner, we also have fellow Aussie stand up Marty Lappan, British funnyman Graham Wooding and American humourist Keithy Howard.
The night is being brought to you by the region’s best cider makers Bruntys, as well as premier bus company Giant Ibis, the exquisite hotel House Boutique and the scrumptious sandwiches of Buffalo Sister.
Tickets are the standard ridiculously low price of $5, with start time set for 8:30pm.

Ro Campbell
UK-based Aussie Ro Campbell’s relentlessly entertaining and award-winning brand of cheeky, dark humour has wowed audiences everywhere from Adelaide to Bangalore, Helsinki to Singapore and all manner of places in between.
He has performed at the last 8 Edinburgh Fringe festivals, making The Scotsman’s pick of Best Jokes of The Fringe in 2009.
In 2010, he was crowned Scottish Comedian of the Year (slightly controversial being Australian and all).
He has also written for British TV and radio, featured regularly on BBC Radio Scotland and Kevin Bridges and Friends Live at The Stand, and has performed at the NZ Comedy Festival, Adelaide Fringe and Perth Fringe and Melbourne International Comedy Festival.
12 people in the Outer Hebrides once saw him perform on the BBC’s Gaelic Language channel.
Ro’s reviews
“Great stand up and exceptional storyteller” THE SKINNY
“Proper emphasis on punchlines, while still telling a tale… and given extra lift by the professional performance.” CHORTLE
“Mad and bad, peddling savage lines – ****” THREE WEEKS
“Shoots straight to the funny bone” BEAT
“He’s ace; unassuming, filthy, and bloody funny. I love his work” FESTIVAL FREAK

Marty Lappan
Australia’s Marty Lappan first pushed himself on stage at St Kilda’s famous and iconic ‘Espy’ Esplanade Hotel in the mid-nineties. He was cutting his comedy teeth among the household names of Hughesy, Dave O’Neil, Greg Fleet, and the irrepressible and sorely missed Dave Grant.
This amazing talent pool provided a springboard to successful gigs at all the major Melbourne comedy clubs and beyond, including guest spots on Hughesy and Friends’ Melbourne International Comedy Festival show, among others.
Within a year of his comedy debut, Marty had teamed up with good mate Chris Franklin to perform their own MICF show: The Bushie and the Bogan. Their shows had rave reviews and sell out audiences in Melbourne, and again at the Adelaide Fringe Festival. They toured nationally, and crowned their success by writing and performing the acclaimed share-house comedy, A Room with a View.

Graham Wooding
Having won a comedy talent competition on his eleventh gig, Londoner Graham Wooding knew his love of stand up would stay with him forever.
With five years on the UK circuit and five Edinburgh Fringe festivals behind him, he took to the skies to travel the world. Touring with groups and performing on his own, his charm and observational wit took to the audiences delight.
Graham performed on British TV shows including Paramount Comedy Channel and Nuts TV and has written material for high and low-level comedians.
After a five-year break, Graham found himself in Asia, helping to kick start the Bangkok comedy scene, before jetting off once again to perform in Malaysia, Myanmar, Cambodia, Vietnam, Hong Kong and Poland.
Cameo roles in Hollywood movies such as The Railwayman and many TVC acting roles continue to place Graham at the forefront of entertainment in whatever nation he finds himself.
Oh, and he likes tea.
