Cambodian Pride
Re: Cambodian Pride
No argument with AM's inclusion of Rithy Panh. In fact he and Van Molivan both had French academic training and fused their academic skill with elements of Khmer culture. Still that's only two and they are foreign nominations. Where are
the Khmer voices? What sources or other cultural attributes is your pride based on.

Re: Cambodian Pride
The Salafist and Wahabi money began pouring into Indonesia in the late 1970's resulting in a deplorable hardening of intolerant attitudes in the youthful population. After all, this is the normal work of Madrassah with ample funds from the Gulf. I have visited such establishments in the past. Instruction is by rote reading of arabic script, recitation, and memorisation. Students have no idea what these words mean as they do not speak Arabic.
An undeniable cancer.
An undeniable cancer.

Re: Cambodian Pride
obvious our Khmer posters are not very proud of their country
otherwise, please tell us what makes you proud to be Cambodian

In a nation run by swine, all pigs are upward-mobile and the rest of us are fucked until we can put our acts together: not necessarily to win, but mainly to keep from losing completely. HST

Re: Cambodian Pride
They are exercising their Khmer pride. Not to be told to post by a bunch of jumped up expatriates who love to put their country down whenever they can.

They were invited. not "told". You seem to be highly jumped up on some weird concoction of disdain and adrenalin. Be as strident and suspicious as you like, no one including the Khmer values' your rage.

Ah back again. You are an obnoxious cunt aren't you?asp wrote:They were invited. not "told". You seem to be highly jumped up on some weird concoction of disdain and adrenalin. Be as strident and suspicious as you like, no one including the Khmer values' your rage.
Denigrating Khmer heritage; "I don't know how fantastic it is but I hope that Cambodians can find some sources of pride more current than Angkor Wat."
Direct attack on local poster; "I was really hoping Samouth would emerge from the gloom of his hissy fit and tell us about Cambodian pride or that lil.salary could unglue herself long enough from facebook to do the same. Alas, it's not to be."
Attack on another poster; "3x more than I do. Seems you have taken over Samouth's role of big brother. And it should be obvious that the posts are not indicative of total time spent. But let her answer big brother."
Denigrating and demanding; "C'mon you Khmer contributors what exactly is your source of pride that I can't fathom? What Cambodian has achieved world recognition for learned or virtuous endeavors, especially in science in oh say the last 500 years. I concede Van Molivan, but besides him who else?"
And that's just in this thread. And nearly 5% of your total contributions to this board as well. So back the fuck off the Khmer posters who are not required to give in to your demands and go back to playing with yourself while you extol your own virtues.

Re: Cambodian Pride
Thank you for being level headed. The Chams are proof that Islam is fine when interpreted in a way that isn't in conflict with other local cultures. The Cambodian government should be completely within its rights to keep it that way by curtailing negative foreign, non-Khmer influence over the Cham and their beliefs. Making the Cham more Arabic is just as intolerant as any other way of making them less Cham.nemo wrote:The Salafist and Wahabi money began pouring into Indonesia in the late 1970's resulting in a deplorable hardening of intolerant attitudes in the youthful population. And thus you return to Khmer pride; Chams are Cambodian, Arabs and their customs are not.

You are a source of amusement to me Grinch. You berate others for failing to meet your high standards while you fail to meet the low standards you set for yourself. You are merely a temperamental fascist in demagogue rags.

I wish you were a source of amusement for me; I require a standard of intelligence in my entertainment that you cannot provide. Good luck with using a thesaurus to get brighter.asp wrote:You are a source of amusement to me Grinch.
