Hello all! Very new to this forum, but not to Cambodia. I've been in Phnom Penh for about 6 months now and have fallen for the city (also getting out of the city haha).

So my partner is a teacher at a nicer English language school, decent pay, decent hours, but I've had a harder time finding work. I graduated college with a degree in English, though without the teaching qualification. I'm not opposed to teaching English, but I'm not convinced I would be particularly good at it and might not enjoy it as a result.

I've spent much of my life in hospitality, all roles including management, at very nice places in America, Australia, and Canada; including some five star resorts. I've also worked in retail, as a mechanic, traveling sales, event coordination, and ski resort related roles. At 32 I've held a broad range of jobs. Sadly, I'm not finding my place here. I've had a few short term contract roles as a consultant for two restaurants in town, but that was more of an introduction to Cambodia than a real path for me now. While I'm great at IT (website management, some design/creation, network and general maintenance, building/fixing computers, etc) I never pursued it as a field and lack the experience for it to be a marketable skill.

I've gone to some eurocham (and others) networking events, and while they seem to offer a good amount of contact, I've not had any further success from them.

If anyone here has any advice, I would greatly appreciate it. It's a great country, but I can't be a drain on my partner and my passive income from a rental property isn't sustainable for me.
