Three teenagers killed in ambulance crash
3 March 2017
Three teenagers died when an ambulance crashed into their motorcycle as they drove the wrong way down National Road 6 in Kampong Cham province on Saturday.
Major Souk Soul, the deputy police chief of Batheay district, told Khmer Times the accident happened at about 8.30am. Two of the boys were 17 years old, the other was 18.
Maj. Soul said a section of the road had been closed due to work being done on the central section dividing the road in two. All vehicles were being permitted to use one side of the road, which meant there was heavy two-way traffic when the crash occurred.
“There was a lot of traffic on the road due to the Ching Ming festival being celebrated in the province. It also coincided with heavy rain,” Maj. Soul said.
The ambulance, which was transporting a patient to Phnom Penh, ploughed into the three young men who were traveling at high speed, Maj. Soul said, adding the ambulance belonged to Prek Prasop district hospital in Kratie province.
“The people in the ambulance were not hurt. The driver did not stop and continued on to Phnom Penh with the patient before police arrived at the scene,” Maj. Soul said...

I guess he's got to take care of the patient but I'm surprised that ambulance could still drive, the front looks fucked. The people in the ambulance were not hurt. The driver did not stop and continued on to Phnom Penh with the patient before police arrived at the scene
Silence, exile, and cunning.

What I think they meant was that the driver did a runner back to PP. Ministry directive: Ambulance drivers told to behave
11 October 2017
- Cambodia's Health Ministry yesterday chastised ambulance drivers for speeding and ordered all of them to get driver’s licences. “Most drivers violated the traffic law, such as over-speeding and causing accidents with commuters, [with] many dead and injured,” the ministry’s directive reads.
“The ministry instructs the heads of hospitals and owners of health services to strengthen the management on ambulance drivers by recruiting drivers who have a driving licence, experience, [and who are] gentle and respectful.”
Run Rath Veasna, director of the Traffic Police Department, said he did not have exact figures, “but there were accidents caused by ambulances driven in order to get ahead of the other [traffic], which was done not according to law”.
In April, three people were killed by an ambulance transporting a victim from Kratie province to Phnom Penh.
Chhneang Sovutha, chief of Kratie Provincial Health Department, said all drivers his department had recruited were licensed.
“We want to save people’s lives, but at the same time we have to think about the safety for both victims and the people,” he said.

It's certainly a novel idea. Next they'll be telling drivers they can't play facebook while driving.

I'm confident there will be a through follow up to insure compliance with serious repercussions if they fail to obey the command.
