Floods
Floods
Sorry to start all these topics but shit just pops into my head as I prepare:
Anyway, are there any streets or areas where a barang might live that are prone to flooding? Im not talking ankle deep but real flooding?

Re: Floods
Do a search here and on the other forum. There's a thread with quite a good list of streets prone to flooding and a google maps link I think. In most places flooding doesn't go much above mid-thigh level. The water usually subsides pretty quickly after the rain stops.

Street 47 leading into Wat Phnom and 51 as far as Psar Thmai often gets flooded after heavy rain and best avoided:

This is pre-JICA storm water drainage, but I'd say it's probably still accurate.

Re: Floods
This may sound strange to some of you, but as a kid growing up in the countryside we learnt that where there is flat open country usually the highest ground is closest to the river bank,,, that's why many original roads from the early days followed the river,, and the deepest water [ when crossing ] is always on the inner side of the river bend.
look at the map shown and look for the blue along the river areas.
