haha was at some restaurant in kampong speu last week, and the guy working there had such a yankee accent it was comical
he had the accent down to a T, i dont think he was Khmerican as the accent sounded almost put on (not natural)

The American War Office put out language learning tapes (yes, tapes) for natives of other countries to learn American decades ago. If you've heard the recordings, you'll know exactly which speakers have learned from them, or been taught by someone who learned from them. It almost sounds like they're poking fun at the language.

yeah, he spoke great English though and was very polite, but it was like a Cambodian Cowboy

I remember when I was teaching ESL in Saigon and met a few former soldiers who learned their English from American GIs from the southern parts of the US-drawl and all. One of my favorite ones, " Ahm so por, I don't have pot to piss in."
