Some really good burgers in Temple Town, but certainly not for $2.50.

Cheap as in cheap and cheerful, good value places, not the bottom of the heap. I'm thinking good food for around $4-5, pleasant atmosphere. Suitable for visitors. All suggestions welcome.
i used to have the pad thai there which was always delicious and super cheap at like $3 or something, maybe cheaper,
beautifully decorated airconed joint
Pad Thai shrimp on the beach in Phuket 70-80 baht
Pad Thai on the street in CM 50 baht
80 baht is $2.30 not a great deal of difference
im talking about eating in a nice restaurant not on the street/beach??
i used to get Pad Thai Gai on the beach in Khao Takiab for like 35Baht
i was just merely suggesting a nice cheap place to go eat in SR

All depends on what your looking for, I love it here, been here since 1996 except for 2 years (1 in Ca,1 in Cambodia)LionsLeftTesticle wrote:Is kamala good? Always here a lot about it.
what i especially like is 75% of the local thais that live here were born here, unlike most other beach areas on the island

I've been Phuket once, I'm sure I'll be back again for extended stay.

Re: Official guide to being a tight arse in SR
i wasnt really a fan of Phuket when i came 5 year ago, we stayed in a nice place at the bottom of a small soi which had a pink lady karaoke bar at the entrance, in phuket town, it was quiet but a nice town and can easily get a baht bus to any of the surrounding beaches for 30-40baht
beaches were nice but rammed full of europeans, it was like being on a beach in europe
went to patong a couple of times but wasnt that impressed, id probably enjoy it more now, i was in my first 2 weeks of being in thailand when i went plus my mindset is somewhat differnt now,
i keep intending on popping back down to the islands, wouldnt mind seeing what samui again, might pop back over to Phuket and get a new opinion

I was last in Phuket around 2003. It was ok but something about it wasn't for me, back then.
I keep meaning on going back as well as I think it would be a place I would really enjoy now that I've grown up a little bit.

One IMPORTANT thing if u do come and visit Phuket
Patong is NOT the norm for the island
I have not been out there at night in 5 or 6 years
