THE Kampong Cham Provincial Court has ordered a commune police chief to appear before it after he allegedly caused the deaths of three people in a traffic accident and fled.
The warrant was issued by provincial prosecutor Hout Vuthy last month after the accident on December 10 in Cheung Prey district.

The suspect is Second Lieutenant Muth Sam Ath, the Chra Neang commune police chief.
Lt. Sam Ath was allegedly drunk and driving at high speed. He is accused of slamming into another vehicle and causing the deaths. However, he fled after the accident.

Thol Veasna and Se Vuthy, both 18, died at the scene. Thai Thea, 19, died at the hospital.

Baray district police officer Captain Touch Dara said Lt. Sam Ath was not in the province. “I do not know where he is,” he said.

Mr. Vuthy said he had sent the case to the investigating judge, and had since issued the warrant.
