Will the £ ever equal $?

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

the GBP drop is killing many retirees living here on pensions
thats not public exchange rates though

youd be lucky to get $1.10 for £1
when i transferred my money to my ABA account over the new year i got $1.21 > £1
let me rephrase
if you buy currency at an exchange booth/Thomas cook etc youll get a lot less

i use fxtrader and get a good rate

if i use my bank i will still get charged fees which in affect brings up the rate

I do think the banks follow XE pretty closely.

Even PayPal and western union is close for currency exchange.

Those places doing 1.10 definitely exist, but they're also definitely a rip off.

Kind of like the buy on rumour sell on news with stocks. Anyways, the GBP was overvalued at 1.5 nevermind 1.7 to the USD, and if it ever hits par it will be undervalued (baring some catastrophic economic event in England that would justify it). If I had to budget for the GBP I would say 1.25 would be a good estimate for the next few years but it's a crapshoot, the USD Index being the most important chart for currency exchange rates going forward.
