How much would it cost to fix a broken toilet?

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

How much would it cost to fix a broken toilet?

Post by LionsLeftTesticle »

Don't want the landlord to know I'm snapping his shit up, literally.

Rope broke connecting the plunger to push button, but basically all the insides are needing replaced too.

Also I snapped the cable from wall to toilet trying to somehow see if it would turn water off when twisted.

There is a chopstick up the hole stopping my room from flooding and I need to top up tank with bum gun every poo.

I suppose I would need a flexible pipe from wall to toilet + all the insides of the toilet bowl.

Maybe I would need to get a plumber too, but after the chopstick thing I feel I'm quite handy with DIY.

Take photos of the broken shit, go to a plumbing supplies shop, show them the photos, and buy the parts. Sounds like you need about $10 worth of stuff, though not sure what "all the insides of the toilet bowl" you'd want to replace... that's generally the suffering that needs flushing.

Ha stuff like the floatation device, plastic bits etc.

Didn't mean the actual landing pad.

Last time I did it all the inside parts came in the same package as a kit. pretty sure it was less than $20. this
did not include the hose from wall to toilet bowl-maybe another $3. fairly easy job.
that, however, was in the states. Not sure about cambo, but they have home supply centers in Thailand that are like
our home depot or such. if you can't find a home supply shop in cambo, maybe somebody can bring or ship you one from
Thailand. at any rate, they should be fairly cheap.

I would actually prefer a squatting toilet, not just for health reasons.

Save thousands on toilet paper because it actually all comes out nice and cleanly.

You don't need to when using a squat toilet.
