I guess so many westerners are dying in Cambodian guesthouses every day that all the journalists have decided to use a template that they can all just share.Rama wrote:
They are actually both identical and written by the same journalist...Usual report of such deaths. Foreigner checked in on the 12th, came and went as guests do, on the day of the 28th hotel called up to the room to ask if they could clean...no reply, open the door, found dead. Forensics show heart attack caused by over dose of methamphetamine.
The headline and leading paragraph are interesting:
Because of Over Use of Drugs Another Foreigner Dies in a Duan Penh Guesthouse
Due to the freedom to use drugs without culpability in guesthouses and hotels big and small, another foreigner has died from a drug overdose....
This is the exact same story again and again, and all they need to do is change 3 data points: deceased's name, date and hotel name.
Hell, they don't even have to change the hotel name and/or dates sometimes, as there can be more than one a day or often at the usual guesthouses.

In this instance, the deceased was staying in a boutique hotel on riverside.
Fredriksen had been staying at the $100 a night hotel for around two and a half weeks at the time he died, so presumably he had a good job and he was doing ok.
His family and friends back home will probably be shocked and surprised at his death. Condolences to them.

Arrived on 1 month tourist visa, but he had already overstayed his visa at the time of his death.

I'm always like, "who the fuck wrote this?"
Then I get to the end and see your signature and all makes sense.

Might make sense to you. I usually have to go back and read it again to work out what he was rambling on about.General Mackevili wrote:I'm glad you sign your posts with Bertros.
