Sentenced to death for the Koh Tao murders – one year on

Post by phuketrichard »

Most agree that the case was a fuckup form day one,but they still sit on death row

Anyone seen Robert Holmes in Cambodia
However after Robert Holmes received $5000 Aus from Ian Yarwood, an Australian Solicitor post-verdict, in order to have a complaint letter written by the boys defence team to BLQS(Bureau of Laboratory Quality Standards), he disappeared along with the money. Efforts have since been made to try to locate Robert Holmes in both Thailand and Phnom Penh Cambodia but so far he has not been found. What has been found is that far from being a distinguished Barrister, Robert Holmes is in fact a disgraced barrister who served a prison sentence in the 90’s for fraud. Questions are now being asked as to why Robert Holmes, now known to be a notorious Australian con man, was ever allowed to be involved with a case where the lives of the Burmese men were at stake. It is also unclear as to whether Zaw Lin and Wai Phyo were aware their legal team was being advised by a man with a criminal past.

How long does it take from sentencing to execution on average in Thailand. Saw a documentry on thai tv once about the protocol regarding executions, but cannot recall time being mentioned. Once in my neighbourhood in Bangkok a 19 year old comitted a hiddious (drug induced) crime. He was a goner short after trial. People did not ever spell out what had happened to him. The thai thing. Hope it won 't be like this for these guys as there is a bit too much doubt hovering over this case. The guy running off with 5k should be put on display in a cage for 20 years. A death sentence trial is just too serious to hamper in any way.

case I was referring to was rape and murder of a 4 yo girl in 2007. Guy admitted to the crime, was the neighbour and on drugs. Interesting to see one datasheet showing last execution in 2001 and the other 2009. Never go by what is written down somewhere as the only source. Is there another log page of it perhaps?I
