Re: Australian nurse arrested under new surrogacy laws.
How have they got these babies out of Cambodia in the recent past? I have encountered the bureaucracy when trying to get Australian visas for Cambodian born children with Khmer fathers. Without the correct documents it is trafficking. Luckily I now have the visas and I realise that each child is worth more than $10,000 a year in social security payments.
I would have got bugger all for them in Cambodia.

Just slightly off topic, about a year ago I took the oldest girl, in the family [ then aged 15 years ] to Malaysia to see her auntie, who wanted to see her. As she is not related to me I was sure I would have been pulled up at the airport immigration for trying to traffic her, but no one was even interested when I asked if papers signed by her mother would be needed.
Cambodia,,,, Don't fall in love with her.
Like the spoilt child she is, she will not be happy till she destroys herself from within and breaks your heart.

Re: Australian nurse arrested under new surrogacy laws.
A surrogacy company run by Australian nurse and fertility specialist Tammy Davis-Charles has been paying poor Cambodian women $US400 (AU$540) a month to carry babies for foreign biological parents, including Australians.
Surrogates recruited from Cambodia's rural areas have then been promised an additional $US6000 to give up the babies at birth, they say.

No Prosecution for Surrogate Mothers, Parents, Police Say
by Phan Soumy | November 23, 2016
Authorities will not prosecute Cambodian surrogate mothers or the parents of the children they are carrying, a police official said on Tuesday as an Australian nurse and two associates involved in the industry were sent to jail to await trial.
Tammy Davis-Charles, 49, founder of surrogacy agency Fertility Solutions PGD, and two Cambodians—Phen Rithy, 28, an official with the Commerce Ministry, and nurse Samrithchan Chariya, 35—were arrested on Friday after being accused of illegal activity for matching surrogate mothers with potential parents.
They returned to the court on Tuesday morning, where Investigating Judge Ros Piseth ordered them to be sent to Prey Sar prison to await trial, said court spokesman Y Rin.
The case against Ms. Davis-Charles is the first of its kind since Health Minister Mam Bunheng announced a ban on surrogate pregnancies last month while the government drafts a law regulating the practice.
The women and intended parents would be offered assistance and need not fear the law, Mr. Thea said. “The surrogate mothers are victims and those who want children are also not guilty,” he said.

This is terrible for everyone - so many devastated childless couples - not to mention the poor mothers who now have to raise children they never intended raising.

children can be "sold" (or adopted to put it nicely) for 10,000$ i think, if they dont intend to keep them

I know that a few years ago dark children were sold with the papers for $50 and whiter ones for $100. What a bargain that is. And in Australia one gets nearly $11,000 a year for one.
