And the GoFundMe:
"A family that has done nothing but help others has lost their husband and their dad! Phil Rolen has dedicated his life to his family and helping others. During his recent trip to Cambodia with his wife Amie to help exclusively in HIV villages and directly with the victims of sex trafficking, he did not make it home. His amazing family consist of 4 little girls and an amazing wife. This family would do anything for anyone, please help his wife with the financial burden of his funeral so she can focus on healing with their girls.
Help spread the word!"
https://www.gofundme.com/to-help-phills-family
It started 3 hours ago with a goal of $10,000.
Phillip Rolen was also featured on Fox News after his twin daughters we're not allowed to wear jackets to school with Air Force logos on them to school, which upset Mr Rolen, as his daughters were born on a US Air Force Base.

Re: American Tourist Phillip Rolen Dies After Night of Heavy Drinking on Pub Street in Siem Reap, Cambodia
It seems there is some speculation that Phil Rolen had an aneurysm:
"Thoughts this mornin go out to Aaron Rolen and his family as they received news of the passing of Phil Rolen. Phil was on a mission trip in Cambodia with his wife. Details about his passing aren't yet known, but it is believed that he had an aneurism. I didn't know Phillip all that well, only met him in person a handful of times, but I know he was a great guy and he will be missed. Amazing person to have heated debates with. He shared one of my photos 2 days ago and got some people's blood boiling. I will miss his posts and his intelligent conversations. Thoughts go to everyone in the Rolen family during this difficult time."

I don't get why they need to go-fund $10,000 for the "financial burden" of his funeral. He was on a "mission" for a church. Surely they don't send all their volunteers off around the world with no insurance ? It's all very well saving the "heathen", but couldn't they help out one of their own with his funeral ? Or at least give the family a discount, since the guy died on duty.

Re: American Tourist Phillip Rolen Dies After Night of Heavy Drinking on Pub Street in Siem Reap, Cambodia
He spent the morning delivering food and giving vaccinations to the kids. Halfway through the day he started feeling ill, nauseous and had a headache so he took a taxi back to the hotel. Once he got out of the taxi, he collapsed. The taxi driver assumed he was drunk and went to the hotel desk demanding that they call his wife down to pay the tab. She is a registered nurse. As soon as she did a basic assessment, she demanded an ambulance. The police report claimed that he was drunk, the hospital MRI showed a brain aneurysm and a clean toxicology report. The police report states that he died from alcohol poisoning, the hospital toxicology states that he was dry as a bone. Who is right?

Thanks for that. It didn't make any sense that a man on a mission was prone to all-night drinking. The Cambodian cops only have a couple of verdicts when a foreigner dies: drug/alcohol overdose or heart attack. Are you suggesting this also happened in the afternoon and not around 6am like reports say?
Assuming a taxi from where he was working all morning took him to his hotel, why would they have assumed he was drunk?
Also, how do you know this timeframe of the events yesterday? Were you there or is all this coming from Phil Rolen's wife or what?
And if he was it all morning volunteering and came home early, does that mean his wife was just lounging at the hotel all day just waiting for him to eventually come home?
I would have assumed they would both go out and volunteer together for the day.

Churchgoers drink too. Someone posted earlier that he's got a record for being arrested for public intoxication.ExPenhMan wrote:

Also, he once started a fundraiser to buy the Navy Seal who shot Bin Laden a lifetime of free beer:

It sounds like he was fond of alcohol. Also, according to this news report, the wife told specifically told Cambodian police he had been out drinking until dawn:

Is it possible that someone is now trying to rehabilitate his reputation after his death and assist fundraising efforts by saying he wasn't drinking?
Re: RE: Re: American Tourist Phillip Rolen Dies After Night of Heavy Drinking on Pub Street in Siem Reap, Cambodia
It does seem that this is what he/she is claiming. The news reports say he was found by a hotel security guard at 6:20 a.m. and that his wife told police he had been out drinking all night. That timeline is consistent with an all night bender. I doubt he was out vaccinating children from 3-6 a.m.General Mackevili wrote:

Can any white guy affiliated with a church just show up in Cambodia and start giving shots to local children?
