Discos/KTVs in SHV (places and special events)

This is the part of the forum where we discuss Cambodia's nightlife! While most bars, nightclubs, pubs, beer gardens, and hostess bars are in Phnom Penh, we discuss the Cambodian nightlife across all of Cambodia, including Siem Reap, Kampot, and Sihanoukville. The main nightlife areas in Phnom Penh are on Street 136, Street 130, Street 110 and Street 51, but there are other party spots that aren't girlie bars where expats, tourists, and locals drink until the sun comes up. Feel free to post specials and promotions that relate to nighttime fun!

there are a number of different styles of KTVs tbh so depends on the establishment, some are just open front bars with plastic chairs and everyone in the bar takes it in turns, others a private rooms which provide a lineup of girls to join your party, some dont have any girls at all

You trying to tell us they have boys.
Cambodia,,,, Don't fall in love with her.
Like the spoilt child she is, she will not be happy till she destroys herself from within and breaks your heart.

your open front bars you just rock up and drink cheap beer, everyone takes it in turns singing with a shared tv, most will have a small number of girls working in them that will sit and drink/go

you've then got the bigger more outdoor beer garden style establishments, with usually a big lineup of girls sat along the entrance that will accompany you if you want/also available
Image Image

theres the small ktvs that are scattered everywhere, especially in PP, some have girls, some dont, you get a lot of young khmers hanging out here as theyre much cheaper than the bigger establishments

the bigger establishments are like the size of casinos and can have a very large spread of beautiful girls to accompany your party, never the cheapest of nights but always a good party

you can have girls join you for drinks in any of the places, it doesnt cost anything for them to join and theres never any pressure to go with them, but it is normal to give then a little tip when you leave for their time, doesnt have to be much, think $5 is the most ive ever given
a tip in the bigger joints, they will bring out snacks, which are best to avoid, as they will bump your bill up quite quickly lol

Thanks Jamie for all that info.

Great that you participate in something really Cambodian like this. I'm not sure singing in Khmer would be my thing though :)

No love for King Pharoah? I tried explaining the redundancy. Although whenever I go to KTVs the girls are all somehow related to my wife and her mates. Mondolron 2 has a downstairs free for all and upstairs rooms. Does half decent food, too

Nice write up JL! For some reason King Pharaoh has never taken off like the other KTVs. I knew some Chinese guys that use to go there as many Vietnamese girls that can speak Mandarin worked at KP, but they stopped going as they were all vultures. Sucks to be right across from NakorSamrith too, which is the most popular one in town.
Anyways, on top of what Jamie mentionned, there's a different SOP depending on where you go and with who (boys night out, or with the gfs family, or some friends bday, etc.) but when it comes to going out to the private room KTVs with the boys there's a lot tips and tricks that you learn along the way to get your moneys worth as those always turn out to be the most expensive nights.
Also, you'll be expected to tip the song girl, the hostesses if you're not taking them home (which is pretty common in KTVs, most will not go the first time they meet you), the Mamasan, and anybody else who sneaks into your room when the bill and tips are due. But if you do it right, you can have a lot of fun.
