Cambodia's first basketball academy to open soon.
The Cambodian Basketball Federation will soon open the country’s first academy to keep pace with the growing popularity of the game among youth, according to the CBF vice president.
Individuals aspiring to join the CBF’s academy would have to sign up for a small monthly fee while the Federation would provide them with referees and coaches for training.

Re: Cambodia's first basketball academy to open soon.
The semi-finals in the Cambodian Basketball League Season are looking interesting:
Where would Cambodia's Basketball League be without so many talented foreign players ?
http://www.phnompenhpost.com/sport/figh ... easts-semiExtra Joss Fighters, who are on a 12-0 roll in the current Cambodian Basketball League season look well poised to carry that momentum forward when they square off against MSGM Beast in the first of the upcoming semifinals at the Olympic Indoor Arena on Sunday.
In the other last-four encounter later in the evening, ALLN Supermen, whose only defeat so far was at the hands of the Fighters, will face Bayon Airline, who pulled off an upset of sorts in the quarterfinals by beating Davies Paints in straight games.
The consistent Jomar Santos and Siruma Stephen will once again play pivotal roles when it comes to the Fighters offence, while coach Oktavianus Hauw will most certainly lean on the Nigerian duo of Ken Gadaffi and Njoku Kelechi to shut out the Beasts’ best raiders and big contributors Gba You and Hong Kwang.
With an 8-4 record, it looks like Beasts will have to play well above themselves to keep the Fighters at bay...

FIBA World Ranking: Cambodia remains close to the bottom
Cambodia still sits near the bottom in the basketball world. This was according to the latest ranking released by the Fédération Internationale de Basketball (FIBA). FIBA is the global governing body for basketball.
The Cambodian men’s basketball team registered 29.1 points, placing it 163rd among 168 countries included in the FIBA World Ranking. The ranking was released this week after the first round of the Continental Cup 2021 qualifiers.
Cambodia’s ranking fell by two places. The Kingdom was previously ranked 161th globally.

Manhattan keeps on making it, Brooklyn keeps on taking it
Re: Cambodia's first basketball academy to open soon.
At 62, I think I could still put up 30 a game in the pro Vietnam league...I loved watching them play when I lived in Kampot..
I am happy to learn there is a Khmer league..

Re: Cambodia's first basketball academy to open soon.
I am excited to have this Basketball Academy open for Khmer youth. I feel that I would be a good candidate to teach kids the fundamentals of the game. Have had 2 yrs coaching experience back in the states and have experienced the joy and togetherness playing in high school and winning a state championship. But I'm not here asking for a job but to support this and hope it can make our country team move towards the middle of the pack instead of towards the bottom.

CBL 2020 season slated for August 2 start
Cambodia’s biggest and most prestigious basketball tournament is set to return very soon, according to the sports federation.
The 2020 season of the Cambodia Basketball League (CBL) is scheduled to start this coming August 2, according to the Cambodia Basketball Federation (CBF).
Federation and team officials conducted a meeting via Zoom to discuss the plans and format for the tournament, according to Austin Koledoye, secretary general of the CBF. “The teams are preparing now,” he said.
The 2020 season was supposed to be held earlier, but was postponed because of the coronavirus pandemic. Like other sports federations, the CBF had its schedule disrupted by the pandemic.
There is estimated to be seven teams which will compete in the tournament. These are Yuetai Mekongners, EJF, Master Tapsi, Smart Dragons, Beyond, Asian Ballers and Red Buff.
Yuetai Mekongners is composed of multiple Cambodian National Team players, including Chin Sophara, Channara Tip, Reber William, Tep Chhrorath, and Rithy Sovanchandaravy.
Each of the participating teams are required to have 16 players (12 active and four reserves). Tournament rules require that there should be two or three Cambodian players in each team.

Big match this weekend for the basketball fans :
September 4, 2020
Battle of unbeaten teams: Fighters to take on Dragons
Jose Rodriguez T. Senase
The tall Dragons are expected to give the Fighters a hard time in the post. CBF
The two remaining unbeaten teams in the Cambodian Basketball League (CBL) will face each other this weekend, in what promises to be an exciting and physical game.
Both teams sport 3-0 win-loss records and have steamrolled the opposition early on. The Fighters are coming off a 94-49 win over Master Tapsi, while the Dragons blew out the Asian Ballers, 84-37, in their prior outing.
The defending champions Extra Joss Fighters are the slight favourites when they face the ABA Dragons in the main game of Cambodia’s top basketball league on Saturday. Basketball observers regard the game as a preview for the championship.
The Dragons versus Fighters games will be played at the National Training Center Gym starting 5pm. The two other games that day will pit the Ministry of Economy and Finance versus the Yuetai Mekongers (1pm) and Beyond versus AsianBallers (3pm).
While the Fighters have the edge in experience, the Dragons are no pushovers , with a towering lineup headlined by veterans Curran Hendry and Nebojsa Trajkovic.
