Airline ratings: 4 Thailand airlines score badly.
Low standards. Thailand has 4 of the least safe airlines in the world
September 27, 2016
It’s well-known that Thailand’s airlines have frequent issues, and a new rating report has confirmed that four Thai airlines rank among the lowest in the world, in terms of safety.
The website AirlineRatings.com has released their annual survey that awarded 407 airlines around the world with star ratings, from one to seven. A one-star rating is the lowest and a seven-star rating is the highest. The airlines are rated based on a slew of factors related to safety.
148 airlines won the coveted seven-star rating and Australian carrier Qantas was named the safest airline in the world for the third year running.
However, 50 didn’t do so well and earned three stars or less.
In Thailand, Nok Air got a two-star rating, the lowest of all the Thai carriers. AirAsia Thailand, Bangkok Airways and Orient Thai Airlines did only slightly better with three stars each.
Thai Airways (and their subsidiary Thai Smile) and Thai Lion were the Thai “winners” with just four out of seven stars.
The stars are given out based on many factors that include crash records, safe landings, certifications, inclusion on international aviation blacklists and more.

If you are flying from SR, with Bangkok Airways your can check your
baggage through onto other airlines and destinations - not all
airlines offer this SO ALWAYS CHECK ABOUT IT - or you have to
fuss and fart around at Bangkok Airport for at least an hour

No surprise here. Thailand is the new Kampuchea, thanks to the slow but steady de-evolution of that country.
Lao Air: 6/7 - Safety, 5/7 - Product
Vietnam Air: 5/7 - both
Malaysia Airlines: 5/7 - Safety, 6.5/7 - Product
Singapore Airlines: 7/7 - both
By the way, Has anyone ever flown with:

Bassaka Air is missing. Maybe not operating long enough.

One does wonder about these rankings. Personally, I find Bangkok Airways excellent and they have had three accidents since founding 1968.
Re: Airline ratings: 4 Thailand airlines score badly.
curious read. I've flown Nok Air several times. (cheapest fare deal)
always seemed ok to me and the planes, at least, looked ok and new.
no trouble with baggage either.
maybe I was just lucky.
cheers
