Developments are planned for Kep, 2017.

Post by CEOCambodiaNews »

Tourism Ministry officials held a meeting yesterday to discuss a project to develop a tourist port in Kampot province and a planned drainage system for Kep’s Crab Market – two tourism infrastructure projects backed by the Asian Development Bank (ADB).

Tourism Minister Thong Khon recommended that the port’s buildings be designed in traditional Khmer style and based on eco-friendly principles, while the drainage system should adhere to Japanese technical specifications.

The two projects are due to begin in 2017 and be completed two years later.

In a nation run by swine, all pigs are upward-mobile and the rest of us are fucked until we can put our acts together: not necessarily to win, but mainly to keep from losing completely. HST

Kep primed for additional eco-tourism development

Kep, the smallest province in Cambodia, is full of natural resources and is rich in cultural history. It is also the perfect place to develop an eco-tourism hub.

Kep provincial governor Ken Satha told Post Property recently that Kep’s pristine natural beauty makes it very suitable for eco-tourism development.
“We are in the stage of working out a master plan project for our province’s development which will emphasise eco-tourism,” he said.

“Although we haven’t got an official agreement from the Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction, we are still progressing our master plan to develop more infrastructure [in Kep].”
Speaking with confidence, Satha said the vision for Kep’s future is one which will focus on a green city.

“We will not allow factories to invest in this green province to avoid pollution in this location,” he added.

Eco-tourism, which places importance on sustainable travel, is gaining momentum across the tourism industry as a way of preserving cultures and biodiversity.

With Kep continuing to draw a large number of local and foreign visitors, Satha said it was important to preserve the area’s natural tourist sites as well as enhance the area’s sustainability by developing eco-tourism projects such as an eco-park...

ADB injects 1M into Kep environment
Khmer Times, 6 December 2017

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has funded $950,000 into an environmental infrastructure project that will rehabilitate the area around renowned Crab Market (Phsar Kdam) in Kep province, according to Sok Sokhun, deputy general director of the Ministry of Tourism.

During the recent groundbreaking ceremony held by the ministry, Mr Sok said: “ADB funded the project to further attract more foreign and local tourists to the coastal destination, and will be building a tourism centre, installing a drainage system and erecting a network of public toilet facilities. The infrastructure project will be completed by August of next year.”

It is also the perfect place to develop an eco-tourism hub.
So a few basic shacks all low cost and very eco. Good destination for backpackers.

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has funded $950,000 into an environmental infrastructure project.
The Chinese will triple that soon, for yet another casino project.
Always "hope" but never "expect".
