Koh Rong has stunning beaches, just a shame that huge wide-scale big development is now taking place across the island

The slopes around/above the main pier landings in the SE of the island are rapidly being covered by new bungalows, and now multi-story brick/concrete hotels are also going up, as well as timber bungalows with thatched roofs

No idea whether there is any organised planned sewage treatment, or if all the new places just run more blue plastic pipes down into the sea ?

do the blu plastic pipes sewer systems have pumps to push the excrement, vomit & used pads out or do they wait for low tide & gravity.

I don't know if any small building development requires planning permission or not, or if people can just do what ever they want to, on the island ?.

As for the sewage system currently in place around the SE piers, I doubt very much if it has been done properly, often you see local guys digging a cut through the sand to allow what I assume is raw sewage to flow into the sea :)

I certainly wouldn't go into the sea, anywhere in the vicinity of the piers

HCMC? This is how they party in Ho Chi Minh City:
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
I may be going to hell in a bucket,
but at least I'm enjoying the ride.

As far as I know there are very few sewage treatment plants in Cambodia. I don't know of any in the capital, but I do know a lot about the stinking canals and where they flow to. They all flow into wetlands to the south of the dyke road and on to the Bassac River. Strangely enough the water becomes quite clear and doesn't smell much after a hundred meters or so into these swampy areas.
Many houses outside the main grid use septic-tanks. The overflow from them is what you see a lot. Raw sewage is not so common.
There is as far as I know a modern sewage treatment plant in Sihanoukville, how effective or useful it is I don't know.
Silence, exile, and cunning.
