Laptop has electrical leak
Laptop has electrical leak
What I mean is that the surround frame gives me a very small charge. On house current. Just an annoyance. Anyone ever experience that?

Yeah, had it on my little HP mini, monitor and USB ports used to shock me when I touched them. Taped over monitor port as not used and if you wear rubber shoes or flip flops instead of bare feet on floor helps. HP changed my motherboard and charger to no avail, it has been the only laptop i've used that did this!

I get that on my Macbook air. Nice little burning sensation.
Re: Laptop has electrical leak
Is there possible damage to laptop? I can't even feel it with my palm or fingers. Only when I rest my wrists on surround when typing. It's that slight. Still annoying. Shoes make no difference.

I get that on my new laptop. Not an electrical "shock," but I can feel current running through it.Luigi wrote:What I mean is that the surround frame gives me a very small charge. On house current. Just an annoyance. Anyone ever experience that?
I've felt that on refrigerators too. I just assumed it was a plugin that wasn't properly grounded or something like that.
I'm still alive.

Re: Laptop has electrical leak
Good question!
Yes I have found it in all of the above and now I turn on the toaster with a wooden spoon.

Traveling Europe in the 70's I felt the electric tingly in some sinks & showers. First ever I had seen suicide showers. It wasn't the soap. Or was it?General Mackevili wrote:I get that on my new laptop. Re: Laptop has electrical leak
right- there is no ground.
it is dangerous if your feet are wet and you touch an AC appliance like a fridge or toaster.
either connect an earth peg driven well into the ground, and install 3 pin plugs on your appliances or wear flip flops.
