News on Vietnam visas ?

Update! Vietnam visa waivers to start next month. Up-to-15 day entries to start on July 1 2015 for 5 European countries according to this:
http://www.myvietnamvisa.com/vietnam-vi ... ption.html
Updates on 18-06-2015: Starting from 01/July/2015 to 30/06/2016, visitors from the following countries may not need a visa to Vietnam for less than 15 days: Germany, France, the UK, Italy, and Spain.
They don't sound 100% sure, and only for 1 year ? But definitely worth checking out. And not sure about the other 4 countries that were supposed to benefit as well: Canada, India, Australia and NZ.

Ok, just posting this because it's official, and most of the Vietnam visa sites are commercial, so not completely reliable.
Note that you will still need a visa if you want to re-enter Vietnam within 30 days, (so this is useless for tourists wanting to do a short SEA roundtrip starting in Vietnam), and that the exemption period ends in 1 year.

CONSULAR SECTION
NOTICE NO. 2
22 June 2015
On 22 June 2015, the Embassy received the formal notification that the Government of Viet Nam decided to exempt visa for British, German, French, Spanish and Italian citizens travelling to Viet Nam (for all purposes) for a period of up to 15 days, and on the basis of meeting all conditions prescribed by Vietnamese laws.

The visa exemption period will start from 1 July 2015 and end on 30 June 2016.

(Note: According to Vietnam immigration law, to be eligible for visa exemption, your passport must have at least six months validity. If you wish to enter Viet Nam at least two consecutive times without visa, the next entry must be at least 30 days after the previous exit. If you enter Viet Nam the first time with visa, then the next entry without visa can be less than 30 days after your previous exit).

I doubt they will ever make a visa exemption for USA citizens. Canada was mentioned previously, along with Aus and NZ, but I haven't heard any more news about that.

Yes, all entry/exit points qualify Jamie. We Brits can rock up and get a nice passport stamp. Americans still have to apply for a visa...
