Cambodia-India direct flight route opens.

Post by CEOCambodiaNews »

The Cambodia-India direct air route is now open for business and airline companies have been invited to file their applications to operate flights between the two countries, according to an official from Cambodia’s State Secretariat of Civil Aviation (SSCA).

“A meeting was held recently in New Delhi between SSCA and Indian aviation officials with both sides agreeing that airline companies in Cambodia and India could now file applications to run flights from Phnom Penh and Siem Reap to New Delhi and other Indian cities,” said SSCA spokesman Sin Chansereyvutha...

In the first seven months of the year, 24,329 Indian tourists visited Cambodia ‒ representing a 30 percent increase compared to the same period last year.

Everyone who has travelled in India knows how much Indians enjoy evacuating their bowels next to the railway line.

Does Cambodia have enough railway line for all the anticipated Indian visitors?

When Air India started direct Sydney-Delhi flights I fond they weren't particularly cheap but it was more convenient than flying via KL or SG. They really missed an opportunity as SYD-DEL-LON could pick them up a lot of business if there wasn't a 12 or 13 hour layover in DEL. They should re-time their Australian flights to make it a viable route.

Anyway, can't you already fly AirAsia to KUL/DEL and to the UK from there?

there already is a LON>DEL>BKK route and its usually only around £250, although its a little more expensive this year, takes about 16hours including transfer, i decided to get my flights with Oman Air as their flights are unusually cheap atm and i picked up one for £277, ive flown with them a couple of times before and have been one of my favourites, Air India are very sub par

usually flights from London to Cambodia for a one way is around £500, return £700 and usually with at least 2 transfers

doesnt really change much with me anyway as i always like having a few weeks holiday in Thailand when i fly back out or before i return to visit UK so it works out fine for me

There are already cheap flights between the UK and Cambodia with 1 change with Thai, Malaysia, China Southern, Cathay Pacific ranging from £430 to £540 depending on airline and dates, not sure where you are looking to get £700 return but maybe change your search engine

Coming soon...

Direct flights from India soon
6 January 2016
India remains optimistic that a commercial airline will begin operating direct flights between the two countries but acknowledged that the route’s profitability remained an issue.

Indian Ambassador to Cambodia Naveen Srivastava said on Wednesday that despite the approval from both governments, no airlines had yet to take up the offer as there were still insufficient travelers flying directly between the two nations.

“It is mostly individuals, there are very few groups who are coming. Both the embassy and the government of Cambodia are working together to see if we can have a direct flight soon,” Mr. Srivastava said during a press conference...
