Any idea about visiting SR?

Post by prahkeitouj »

I've visited Siem Reap for many times, but I never go there alone or with a friend. I don't know where to eat and stay for a short trip( maybe 1 or 2 nights) there. I want to have good local and western food.
Note: the price of it, please.

i usually stay near the Caltex station ( Angkor Wat GH) $13 for a air con room, 20 minute walk to Pub street
western food all I have found is at Pub street, $3.5-7/meal
Cambodian meals 6-10,000 riels
Plenty of places around the old market downtown and on the street outside Pub Strret

SR for me means a trip to the temples not to the town

I have been to Siem Reap quite a few times, but every time i was there i have never manged to visit Bakkeng and Kolen mountain and Cultural village. They are still on my list. However, if you have time you should definitely go to Banteay Srey temple. It is a really nice and well-preserved temple. i really love it. However, you should try to bargain the tuk tuk if you think of going there by tuk tuk. Last time i paid 40 dollars for one day trip and i realised that i was overcharged. For one day trip by tuk tuk, it should be cheaper than that, i am not quite sure for how much. I enjoyed street foods in Siem Reap as Richard quoted it is from 2.5 to 4 dollar and you will have decent foods. Last time i stayed at Garden Village Guesthouse. It is kinda backpacker place. It you don't like the backpacker vibe and the smell of weed, i suggest you to find room around night market. I think you can get room with one bed for 9 dollar per night or maybe try dorm room if you want to experience it.

I visited all those placed already, but I'd show my friend some temples as we don't have much time such as Angkor What, Bayon , Banteay Srey and Bakkeang . As I know Banteay Srey is far from others. I think Tuk Tuk would be cheaper than car and I'll find reasonable price and toward Bakkeang. Of course I like clean place, no smoke or noise.

We might rent bicycles to go sightseeing in the morning or Tuk Tuk in the afternoon.

I might stay if it's clean because we would like to have food out side.
