Does this disturb you

Yeah, that place out 'there'. Anything not really Cambodia related should go here.

I didn't even know it was open for debate.

I still think we're doing damn well for a country with over 300 million people to take care of.

We run almost everything on this whole freaking planet.

If you don't think America is the best, which countries would you put at the top?

As a French kid growing up with soap operas, TV shows, US cartoons/toys and Hollywood movies, I believed that the US was the most fantastic and advanced country on Earth.

Then I grew up, mature, develop my critical thinking and roam the Internet...

Many of them do indeed believe this. E E Cummings portrayed the mindset perfectly in the Poem, Next to Of Course God America I. :hattip:

Sadly I suspect that's your honest response, which kind of makes my point.
If you don't think America is the best, which countries would you put at the top?
That depends on the metric you want to use. If it's "people who are vocal about how great my country is" then the US has it in spades.

But seriously, other than national ego, what specifically make Team 'Murica (F. Yeah) so confident the US is the 'bestest' at everything in the Universe?

Personally I believe the propaganda of the war era became mantra, became psyche.

here is the deal; it is a rather large country and most of them never leave it.

communist news network ( CNN ) and Faux News tell them it is the best daily, so they never give it a second thought.

life is certainly cheap there.
</sarcasm>

unlike australia where it is very expensive indeed.

Our forefathers (in America) when they threw the tyrants/undesirables out of what is now the United States wrote a timeless document for which they could have been hanged. The document is called the "Declaration of Independence." In the Declaration of Independence it states:
"Governments.... derive their just power from the consent of the governed. That whenever any form of government becomes destructive...... it is the right of the people to alter or to abolish it......it is their right, it is their DUTY to throw off such a government."

Like Islam, America has been highjacked by a special interest groups/private club. (Bar Associations) America is at a juncture, it will either become a total police state not unlike Nazi Germany or the Sheeple will have enough and rise up. America already had one civil war (my great great grandfather fought in it), and may be headed to another, this time the government against the people.

Under the Posse Comitatus Act of 1878 (18 U.S.C 1385) except for the National Guard, the American military cannot be involved in domestic disputes, but will as the corrupt organization in power does not care about laws. The big question will be how many Americans in the military will fire on fellow Americans and how many will join them. This is coming, just google the militia movement across American and guns sales.

The exact same metric you had in mind when you asked the question, of course.

I'm still waiting for your list......
