back from my 10 day motorcyle trip thru the Chin state. Burma

Yeah, that place out 'there'. Anything not really Cambodia related should go here.

A fantastic trip 50% on dirt or worse roads, thru the mountains region seldom visited by tourists. :thumb:
Mindat is where the Tattooed Chin ladies live.
A few days our average speed was around 20 kms/hour. 3 places needed to wait till the landslides were cleared.

MY body aches in places i didn't know i had
Photos to follow.

Looking forward to the pictures Richard. Where did you rent the bike from, and did you have to take a tour company?

friend of mine rents bikes and runs tours out of Mandalay ( I NEVER go on tours) http://www.mandalaymotorbike.com/
will take a few weeks. I NEVER look at my pics till after 2 weeks or so, as then i can be more critical about them.

If any of you all ( and think that applies to most here) have not been to Burma, get over and dont do JUST the big four ( Mandalay,Yangon,Bagan and Inle)
outside of those you will experience as asia as it was 30-40 years ago.

You really MUST go to Inle to visit monks and cats and swim - but there are lots of other places ...

Are you given more freedom now regarding riding around? I know it used to be pretty controlled. I don't do tours either, but I thought that was the only option in Myanmar. What bike did you have and what are the bike options?

there are few places closed ( like the road from Kentung to Mandalay, road Mue see to Bhamo, river travel Myitkyina-Bhamo and some others)
some places still require a permit ( mogok and travel outside Putao township) but not many. Everything else is open pretty much

Went to inle 20years ago, no reason to head back as way way to many tourists for me

I took a 125 Chinese honda step thru ( like dream) with kobby tires on it, MY friend had a 125 honda dirt bike, I had a HARD time in the mud.
Look at the link i posted for choices of bikes.
