living rosemary plants

Post by oasisbarhatien »

Does anyone know where in Phnom Penh or Sihanoukville I can buy some growing rosemary plants.I have tried repeatedly to grow them from seed, with zero success. Not even one seed has germinated from four packets of seed!!The seeds I tried were brought from the UK and Australia, and all were well within the "plant by date" Cheers in advance for any help

I do not think they will grow in this climate. They are ubiquitous in coastal California where the climate is similar to the Mediterranean area they come from. Hope I'm wrong and good luck
As my old Cajun bait seller used to say, "I opes you luck.

I want some - anyone grown it successfully ? I think it's probably too humid, but maybe in a pot ?

they will grow here put in a pot so they can be moved out of the rain they like lots of sun but need to dry out between waterings. Get a cutting to start a plant from the market with fresh herbs.

I Have tried on four occasions with small potted rosemary plants from Ireland. They have always gone to seed within two to three months, both in the dry and rainy seasons. Not sure what went wrong, always thought it was the heat.

No, the first couple of times I tried to cut the seed and flowers off to promote more growth, but that didn't work. Then I tried scattering them in my nursery area but still no luck. Although I didn't really know what I was doing, so the seeds may not have been fully formed.

Rosemary grew like a weed where I was living North of Cairns, Australia, where the weather is very similar to Cambodia, so not sure why it seems so difficult to grow here?
