Re: Bee Keeping
mate, i go for weeks literally without seeing myself in a mirror ( there is not one ). my clothes are fitting well. LOL
you know i am working at a charity and funding all this gig from my own contracting labor.
hoping i can crack the nut on how to make this cheap enough for khmers to enter - it works in Africa very well, but there has to be some infrastructure- that is what i am trying to set up.
i am enjoying the hell out of myself.
living in a 3 x 3 m hut
started a garden that has grown huge in 5 weeks.
any time i start doing something several khmers just rush up and take the tools from my hands and do the job LOL
will post some pics tomorrow

Re: Bee Keeping
This is a great initiative as honey is now a valuable crop all over the world. However in NZ large scale thefts of hives take place and it will probably begin in Cambodia as well. A moto is probably not the ideal vehicle with which to transport stolen hives.

Re: Bee Keeping
I have a queen cell builder hive, queenless, just packed with bees. 2 boxes reduced to 5 frames. They are building cells like champions and boy do they like to sting. i have over 15 this morning and the other guys similar. We had to run away then smoke heavily. After that, we went back to work on the bees

Re: Bee Keeping
Hey; keep asking you but never seem to get a response.
HOW much would someone need to invest to see a return of Apx $1,000/month ( So u'd also need jars and stuff)
Would u wholesale the honey?
Have ur gf sell door to door or thru contacts?
FB ad?
Otherwise it seems like a nice hobby, sorta like raising worms

In a nation run by swine, all pigs are upward-mobile and the rest of us are fucked until we can put our acts together: not necessarily to win, but mainly to keep from losing completely. HST

Re: Bee Keeping
as it is livestock dependent on flowers it is really impossible to quantify very meaningfully. An AVERAGE hive in the regions of Thailand and Vietnam can produce 50kg/year with a selling point around $20/kg locally. Cost of production size hives around $300 with a young queen and strong 8 frames of brood.
at a wild guess, maybe about 12-20 beehives, and a pickup truck and trailer to haul them onto good areas with strong nectar flow if needed.
you could earn up to 2k or more a month with those capabilities.
it is seasonal though, so some months you would get nothing or have to feed sugar like my friend is doing now, or move the bees onto a honey source. depends on the flora in your area.
it is livestock remember, which is always risky. one nearby farmer could spray something and all can die.
I am selling all my honey on FB with a pickup point in PP. 200 ml $6 at Longlin House, corner of st 19 and 172
