Thailand tourist number take a hit

Thailand is Cambodia's neighbor to the West, and this forum is dedicated to Thai news, stories, reviews, blogs, videos, Thai people and anything else related to the country. A lot of expats have both lived and worked in Cambodia and Thailand, and this area is a place to discuss all aspects of life in Thailand and what's going on there. Most topics are about Bangkok and Pattaya because of their larger populations of expatriates and tourists in those cities, but this is for all things Thai.

Phuket is living on its past, i can't explain why so many tourists stick with Phuket or Samui, i've a friend now in Samui and he's going there almost every year and he has yet to see Chiang Mai, Pattaya, and even Bangkok !

there must be some perverse social dynamic involved on this, same for some guys i know who only go to Koh Lanta or others who only go in Bali (and of course in the same hotel, same restaurants).

yeah probably they would go back even if another Tsunami flood the whole of phuket, it's simply irrational.
People go to phuket because it has a variety of things on offer. Raucous nightlife? Check. Nice hotels? Check. Quiet beaches? Check. Outdoor activities? Check. Malls? Check.

You're kind of stuck in a mindset of seeing things in terms of what YOU want, and don't seem to want to think about what most tourists want.

where's my like button :thumb:

Outdoor activities include;
World class diving, water sking, Hiking, sightseeing, fishing, parasailing, golf, horseback riding, atv rentals, swimming, Kayaking
Great dining from the street vendors up to 5 star restaurants

Phuket offers something for everyone and contrary to your opinion it is reasonably priced

Yes, it is reasonably priced. I can't think of anything that's cheaper in Malaysia than phuket.

hahaha you should go work for the TAT.

tourists can do all of these things in soooo many other places in Thailand and elsewhere, where the water is actually cleaner and where everything is also cheaper and where the locals are actually friendlier and where there's not taxi/tuktuk mafia.

they still go in Phuket because either they've never been there and they're curious to see what the fuss is all about or just because they're lazy asses and like many others stick for 20 yrs in the same fucking hotel in the same shitty place.

well if they like Phuket so much who am i to judge ? to each his own but i rest my case.
