I guess the price of a bribe has gone up- UPDATE, HE'S DEAD

Thailand is Cambodia's neighbor to the West, and this forum is dedicated to Thai news, stories, reviews, blogs, videos, Thai people and anything else related to the country. A lot of expats have both lived and worked in Cambodia and Thailand, and this area is a place to discuss all aspects of life in Thailand and what's going on there. Most topics are about Bangkok and Pattaya because of their larger populations of expatriates and tourists in those cities, but this is for all things Thai.

Wanted Russian attempts to Bribe Pattaya Immigration Police
Posted on October 3, 2014 at 5:39 am

On Thursday Night, Immigration Officers detained a 32 year old Russian who is wanted in his native country in relation to a theft case dating back to 2010.

Police arrested Mr. Andrey Tsirp at the front of Soi 6 on the Pratamnuk Road, just before 7pm. The Russian Embassy had earlier requested Immigration to locate and arrest the man so he could be returned to Russia to face charges of theft.

When he was taken to the Immigration Office in Jomtien checks were made and Mr. Tsirp was found to possess an expired visa in his passport which stated he was permitted to remain in Thailand until 14th September.

During questioning Mr. Tsirp is alleged to have offered officers 700,000 Baht in cash to secure his release. The alleged bribe was not accepted and it was decided to charge him with attempting to bribe a Royal Thai Police Officer and Visa Overstay.

After the charges in Thailand have been dealt with, the suspect will be handed to Russian Embassy Officials so he can be returned to Russia to face the charges of theft.

Russian National Dies in Thailand During Detention: Russia Embassy

BANGKOK, October 6 (RIA Novosti) – Russian citizen Andrei Tsirp, who was on the wanted persons list in Russia on the charges of theft and blackmailing, was found dead Monday morning in Bangkok, Head of the Consular Section of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in the Kingdom of Thailand, Bangkok, Vladimir Sosnov told RIA Novosti on Monday.
"Tsirp, detained in Pattaya, has been lately held in the infirmary of the immigration police in Bangkok. Yesterday morning, the security guards of the infirmary found him lying unconscious in the cell and called the doctor," Sosnov said.
"The doctors diagnosed a cardiac arrest and significant digestive disorder.… The doctors also diagnosed the failure of Tsirp's right cerebral hemisphere and heart which could not operate without equipment. This morning, Tsirp died without regaining consciousness," he added.
Medical examination and investigation are to be carried out concerning the Tsirp case, the diplomat added.
The Thai police arrested Tsirp on October 2 in Thailand for visa regime violation and bribery when he tried to offer some $25,000 in the local currency for his release. The Russian Embassy earlier requested Thai authorities to locate and arrest the man so he could be returned to Russia to face his charges.

The Russians will certainly make the crime stories more interesting to follow in Thailand over the coming years as they become more and more entrenched. It's not a good thing but I'm grappling for upsides other than the good looking 20 somethings

everyone in Thailand dies from a heart attack
be it caused by falling off a 6th floor apt,
stabbed
run over by a truck
fucked till ur heart gives out
shot

after all whatever the preceding cause , u die cause ur heart stops
In a nation run by swine, all pigs are upward-mobile and the rest of us are fucked until we can put our acts together: not necessarily to win, but mainly to keep from losing completely. HST
