1 Brit, 2 US arrested; woman's body found in fridge.

Thailand is Cambodia's neighbor to the West, and this forum is dedicated to Thai news, stories, reviews, blogs, videos, Thai people and anything else related to the country. A lot of expats have both lived and worked in Cambodia and Thailand, and this area is a place to discuss all aspects of life in Thailand and what's going on there. Most topics are about Bangkok and Pattaya because of their larger populations of expatriates and tourists in those cities, but this is for all things Thai.

and most have RFID chips in them. these would be difficult to fake/reproduce in the least. If you faked the visa as well, I suppose you could stay indef. just by changing hotels every so often.

Since August 2007, all U.S. passports have come embedded with an RFID chip, intended to deter fraud and improve security. The chip contains the same information as on the passport's picture page, including a digital version of your passport photograph.

u wont see many FAKE US/ European passports anymore, technology is to high,
what u will see is stolen ones out of embassies (eastern European)
fake passports can be used for staying in hotels, opening bank accounts,id purposes. You can even buy ones for these purposes on the dark net
The largest supplier of Good ones was busted up this year when they busted the "doctor"

UPDATE: The chief suspect has now been identified as Herbert Lefron. He says it was his friend that killed the guy in the freezer, and he himself just cut up the body to make it fit better inside the freezer.(As you do.) His friend has died of cancer, so cannot be interrogated, BUT police have found another witness who is a woman... stay tuned.
POLICE have spoken to a key female witness about the case in which a dismembered body was found in the freezer at a Bangkok building and are confident they will have significant evidence this week.

Police raided the building used by an alleged American passport-forging gang in Phra Khanong district last Friday and found the body of a foreign male in the freezer.

They interrogated the alleged leader of the gang, who was eventually identified as Herbert Gery Lefron, 63, of Baltimore, Maryland, for 16 hours on Friday to try and establish who killed the man. Lefron had previously used another alias.

However, Lefron insisted he was not the murderer and that he only dismembered the body of Hungarian national Charles Edward Ditlefsen to fit in the freezer. He claimed the killer was his friend, who had since died of cancer.

Police do not believe his story, and Bangkok police chief Lt-General Sanit Mahathaworn said that Lefron's claim contradicted the evidence.

He said the "important" female witness was close to Lefron and could be the key to the case...

Kickboxer, chemist, CIA man - the many tales of Herbert La Fon
The main suspect in the body in the freezer case has a long and complicated history, but how much of it is true?
Image
According to a 2001 FBI wanted poster, a federal warrant was issued for Mr La Fon in June 1979 in Baltimore, Maryland, in connection with credit card fraud.

FBI information showed he used 16 aliases, had extensive martial arts training and is a kickboxer.

The poster said he owned a sporting goods business in Mexico and speaks Spanish. It said he was "armed and dangerous".

The US embassy declined to comment on details of the case due to the sensitivity and privacy issues, saying only that "Thai authorities did make specific requests and US law enforcement agencies are responding appropriately".

Presumably he also speaks French ...

UPDATE: Autopsy results reveals traces of drugs, the inquiry into the "body in the freezer" continues ...

BANGKOK — An autopsy on the frozen remains of an American citizen found during a dramatic raid in Bangkok last month found the victim was injected with a barbiturate commonly used as an anesthetic and “truth serum,” a police source said Wednesday.

In addition to finding sodium thiopental in the remains of the man identified as Charles Edward Ditlefson, the autopsy also suggested he died of either asphyxiation or poisoning before being cut into the 11 pieces discovered Sept. 23 inside a shophouse freezer in Soi Sukhumvit 56...
