Awkuhn. Or whatever the "correct" transliteration is. No need to rush on the adverts on my account ;-)

I'd just like to pause for a moment and give a golf clap for the use of this word. I mostly here people here calling it "romanization", but I much prefer "transliteration" as I find it more accurate of a description.

Silly thing to care about, I know, so I never bring it up... just happy to see someone else use it. :-)

I'll be careful not to upgrade in a hurry.

WTF is a golf clap? I hadn't heard of transliteration until starting to learn Khmer. No idea if it's a more accurate term than Romanization but I can't be bothered to routinely use both with a slash inbetween.

There's a subtle difference between transliteration and romanisation, but good to see you're happy. If you search the board you'll see transliteration has been used a fair bit.

so there is, in 2 threads i've never gone in... lol.

And you're right... Romanization is the broad category which transliteration belongs to. transliteration is just more specific, and more accurate to what most people do with khmer.

My first exposure to it was in learning Hebrew in the late 90's. Almost none of which stuck to current day.

In my Master's studies we had (purely academic) lecturers who were International Phonetics Alphabet groupies, and quite seriously taught that the most effective way to teach any second language is to first teach the student the IPA to a native-like proficiency, and only the attempt to teach them the second language. Money well spent, there. </sarcasm>

Is there any way to see more than one user in the quote function?

All I see is the OP of the quote and not the member of subsequent replies.
