Re: Birthing clinic for Khmer nationals? (Why rush these things)

..Anyway, what surprised me about the whole thing, other than the bill, was when I learned that if there was any complication she would be brought to Calmette anyway.. Not so surprising, this is also the same in the UK & I'm guessing other nations too. You can book a super expensive suite at a ...

Re: please don't ask for something as hearing no offends

The "being offended when told no" is just one of the many expressions of how many Khmer bastardise the notion of "face." A woman recently assaulted me verbally and then physically in front of her neighbours (because I was taking her slaves away) and while negotiating settlement l...

Re: Visiting an Orphanage

Sunrise is a great organization, good choice to support them. Don’t see an issue with supporters having a supervised tour. That may be your experience of them, but in my personal experience they absolutely are not . But as "mum" has the ear of HE, it is unwise to make negative comments pu...

Re: Bicycles/motor bikes on country highways

If you added “Micheal” at the end like “I have had a 70 kg = 155 lb man on the back, making the total 190 kg = 420 lb, Michael” you’d could be KITT from Knight Rider. Or add "Dave" at the end of each question. I’m 135kg. Beat that! Literally off the scales when we arrived (most medical sc...

Re: Birthing clinic for Khmer nationals? (Why rush these things)

That's crazy, I cannot imagine being in labor after your water broke and sitting side saddle on the back of a moto to hospital. Wouldn't a good midwife be a good alternative? Anything other than that would be a good alternative. Picture how the baby is positioned (crown down) and the nature of the ...

Re: Birthing clinic for Khmer nationals? (Why rush these things)

Quick update on this, the government-run birthing clinic near Óuressey is still exactly where it was, and the pricing is cheaper than we were initially told. The intake preparation is quite straightforward - "When water is, you come." I sent the young couple off this morning to actually ge...

Re: Birthing clinic for Khmer nationals? (Why rush these things)

I don't want to send you on a wild goose chase, and I could very well be wrong about this place, but I know this place seems to be govt run and has something to do with maternity. There are several entrances so maybe different departments. It's near the Sihanouk Hope hospital. https://www.google.co...

Re: Birthing clinic for Khmer nationals? (Why rush these things)

Khmer-Soviet Friendship Hospital is closer to there. Again you'd need to go in and organize a private package because the public wards are even worse than Calmette ( and they are still far from the worst!) . The only birth clinics I know of are private. Thanks. I suggested this and was met with shu...

Re: Birthing clinic for Khmer nationals? (Why rush these things)

My kid was born in a private clinic that was highly regarded at the time, it had nice suites but I wasn't so sure about the medical facilities. It was in that general area too. They butchered his mother's belly, I've never seen such a huge C section scar. I heard about other women dying there. Anyw...
