Re: No more busses?
Did someone get too greedy? For once, I doubt this is really a case of pure greed. The numbers probably don't add up. Even in the west, transit systems are notorious for being money drains and constantly need government subsidies/assistance. It's a shame the government can't see past it's nose on t...

Re: CALTEX Gas Stations have been Closed for a week?
Some unskilled construction workers make a bit more than that, but 5$/day works out to roughly 115$/month or so. However, you have to remember that it's physically harder work than pumping gas all day. Pretty much everywhere in the world, gas pumpers don't make much. Still, I'd be curious to know ho...

Re: The death of Sin Sisamouth..... and Roseyrothea
Jésus, flying chicken is off his meds again. Please don't tell us more about your conspiracy theory. It's much too secret. So secret that no khmers know about it. So secret in fact, that if the truth were ever to come out, the world as we know it would end. Hey wait, I have an idea. Why don't you j...

Re: Pond Hunting
Sounds pretty interesting. I'd heard of big holes in Prey Veng and especially Svay Rieng, but never thought of checking it out. I'd imagine there isn't much interesting left and as you say, lot's of places would be overgrown by now, or have been converted into squarish irrigation ponds by the locals...

Ahem, how exactly did you come across this "actual truth"?

Re: Security guard at GSM fell from the roof...
I don't see how this is karma. More like another case of a poorly paid worker being told to do something outside of list of responsibilities or comfort zone (which anyone sane would have said no to in the west) and dying as a result. I don't know any guards there, but even if you've had a few confro...

Re: Anyone else watching "Game of Stones" set in Cambodia?
Haha yeah. The mine field conveniently stopped there. They "narrowly escaped from an armed gang" (guys on a rubber plantation who looked confused). They then reached the mine and "had to eat before doing business" with the head miner. He offered them a bowl of crickets of course ...

Re: Anyone else watching "Game of Stones" set in Cambodia?
Hahahaha, the guy has a machete on a stick and is prodding for mines at breakneck speed (actual prodding is super slow and takes hours). Man, got to love the fake drama! [EDIT] Haha, now they're scared of hiring a boat because they think the rivers are being patrolled by armed gangs (they then show ...

Anyone else watching "Game of Stones" set in Cambodia?
Fucking hilarious. Just happened to open the TV for the first time in ages and fall on this Discovery Channel show "Game of Stones". This "team of experts" ends up in Pailin on a hunt for rubies which are reported to have originated there. The "security expert" is funny...
